The last two decent ISS passes for my location, when the ISS has been in
packet mode, have been nothing but "FM RS0ISS to CO2SR" and other CO2SR
messages. Its been so bad that its almost impossible to get any messages
up-linked as there is hardly any space in between messages - I saw a
couple of others get through but CO2SR (Armando in Cuba) seems to have
every pass sewn up).

Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Many thanks

I will be taking a one day trip up the coast a bit to CM94. This is the
grid that contains Vandenberg AFB which launches its fair share of
satellites (unfortunately, I will not be operating from the base) and I've
been told it is a bit of a rare grid these days.

If you are looking for this grid, below are the passes I plan to operate.
These will mostly be pretty high passes for me which is good as I will be
using a handheld Arrow antenna. I wish there were a lower elevation pass of
AO-07 in the east or even better, an easterly pass of HO-68 in FM mode but
these are not in the cards. If there is enough demand, I can work on
activating this grid again in the future.

Here are the passes I plan to work:

Day Object AOS(U) LOS maxEl Az

14.07.2010 AO-27 21:02 21:17 52 153 - 353

15.07.2010 AO-51 0:02 0:15 48 152 - 354

15.07.2010 AO-07 1:20 1:41 65 151 - 348

15.07.2010 FO-29 1:57 2:15 80 014 - 192

15.07.2010 AO-07 3:14 3:34 23 202 - 330

15.07.2010 VO-52 3:51 4:03 31 143 - 359

Funny, I was just thinking about Jeff today wondering where he was.

I was thinking about working more in the area around Santa Ynez.there's some
big hills around Lompoc and I thought I might do better north of Santa Ynez.

Speaking of paddling, I am in the early stages of planning to activate CM93
from Santa Rosa Island.thinking of next March.before it gets too hot!

Hello Trevor,
437.861 is the correct frequency and it is CW beacon. The students

Hi All,

TIsat-1 HB9DE is to be launched aboard the Indian PSLV-C15
                 on 12th July 2010
from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota (SDSC-SHAR),
Andhra Pradesh, India.

The lift off is at 03:52 UTC and the TIsat-1 is to be injected
into orbit around 04:11 UTC.
The CW beacon would be transmitting at the earliest at 04:26 UTC,
15 minutes after separation from the launcher.
Beacon Frequency is 437.305 MHz (400 mW).

The predicted TLE for TIsat-1 is as follows:
TIsat-1
1 99998U 10034Y 10193.17708333 .00002592 00000-0 35304-3 0 00007
2 99998 098.1177 252.3288 0008033 272.0048 315.2117 14.78702228001648

During its first orbit, starting about 04:50 UTC, stations around West and
North Mexico, Western Coast of US, followed by Canada, Alaska,
North and Central Asia would be able to receive the beacon signal.

We kindly request stations over these regions to listen on to
the beacon frequency and provide us with their valuable reports.
This help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

For the SUPSI-SpaceLab student team,

P.S.: TIsat-1 is part of the Nanosatellite Launch Service 6 (NLS-6)
cluster payload from the Space Flight Laboratory (SFL) at the University
of Toronto, Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS).

I'm not having much luck making a contact but I heard a good bit on one of
the SSB satellites (I tried a lot of them, I forget) and I heard contacts
being made with the ISS crew. I'm still need to figure out what I'm doing
wrong in transmitting and/or learn what I don't have set right on my TS-2000.

Good signals from TISat over ZL 0926 to 0936 when the signals stopped
abruptly shortly before predicted LOS.

Hello All
All the five satellites including the StudSat and TISat aboard the
PSLV C15 were successfully separated from the vehicle and they are
very much in the 640 Km orbit right now. we are looking for the beacon
signal reports across the Globe.
Good wishes and Good to all the projects.

Any chance you can be up there for this years annual attempt at
the Golden Packet cross country test on 25 July (Sunday)? (See
July QST p 99). The west coast team to populate a dozen or so
mountains from San Diego to Vancouver is forming:
www.aprs.org/pct-golden-packet.html

This is a several hour event to try to get an APRS text message
from one end to the other on RF.

Last years team attempting the Appalachian trail is also
re-forming this year: www.aprs.org/at-golden-packet.html
