If anyone is interested in working one of the "orbiting" 13 colonies special
events stations, I should have 4-5 minutes of the next ISS pass available to
me. Foliage to my east (a thick stand of trees that starts less than 50 feet
from my back door, and runs east for 50-60 yards) will keep me from doing
much with the southern half of the pass, but I should be ok by no later than
2343 UTC.

Look for N3TL/K2G on your UISS display, and send me a message! I also should
be able to make the north half of the next pass, to my west, too.

73 to all, and God Bless,

Hello from Vancouver!

Before I head for the ferry terminal and cross over to Vancouver Island,
I will attempt an AO51 pass @ 0043 UTC, then AO7 @ 0106 UTC if it is in
mode B, then FO29 @ 0128 UTC. A test of my gear, before my ambitious
plans for tomorrow.

I will be on the 1108z pass of AO-51 tomorrow morning from Delaware Bay.
I'm sorry but this is the only pass I can guarantee. I might be on some more
FM bird passes later on in the day if I find us fishing within Delaware's 3
mile limit. I will be in FM28, and call used will be KB2M/K2E/MM. I hope to
work everyone who is trying to do the Sweep via satellite. I finished the
sweep last night on HF, and worked a few sat 13 colony stations today for my
special satellite logo...

CO-65 (Cute-1.7+APD II) is in Digipeater Mode during weekends,
so it's only Saturday and Sunday.

CO-65 digipeater is operated using a standard AX.25 protocol.
SRLL protocol is not usually used.

The uplink of the digipeater is 1267.600 MHz and the downlink
437.475 MHz using 9600 bps GMSK.

Hi!

I had fun working those 3 passes earlier. I was in Burnaby, a suburb to the
east of Vancouver in CN89lg, and made QSOs all across North America. Even
XE2AT called me on AO7. I logged 13 QSOs on a western AO51 pass, 7 on AO7,
and 4 more on FO29. Fun!

I still plan on bing at CO60/CO70 tomorrow. No guarantees on how early,
but with sunset around 0500 UTC up here I may work more passes than I
originally planned. Please note my call here does not use the traditional
VE prefix... when I obtained my Canadian license in 2002, VE7EWK was
already issued. The VA prefix had been available in many provinces
for a couple of years, and I went with VA7EWK. This is the first time in 8+
years VA7EWK has been on anything other than local repeaters; I used
CJ7EWK on satellites from Vancouver in late 2008.

AMSAT Director Contests and Awards Bruce Paige, KK5DO reminds everyone
who participated in the AMSAT Field Day that you need to email your
results to him. Per the rules....

The Satellite Summary Sheet, available on-line at:
http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/awards/amsatfd.php should be used for
submission of the AMSAT Field Day competition. It must be received by
KK5DO (email or postal mail) by 11:59 P.M. CDT, Monday, July 12, 2010.
The preferred method for submitting your log is via e-mail to:
kk5do@xxxxx.xxx or kk5do@xxxx.xxx.

You will receive an email back (within one or two days) from Bruce when
he receives your email submission. If you do not receive a confirmation
message, try sending it again or send it to Bruce's other email address.

Tim, N3TL noted, "I've never heard AO-7 so busy. I heard more stations
on AO-7 than I've heard in the two years I've been working the satellites
and I stayed in the CW portion of the passband! If CW was that busy, I
suspect the SSB going on above 145.950 was even busier." Tim used an
FT-817ND as the transmit radio, and a Yaesu VR-500 handheld all-mode
receiver as the receive radio connected to an Elk antenna with a Diamond
diplexer. In addition to hand-holding the Elk and manually tracking AO-7,
Tim said he tuned for Doppler manually and used a straight key for CW.
His goal was to show that effective satellite communications doesn't
require significant expense and many satellites can be worked with the
equipment you already own.

Patrick, WD9EWK/VA7EWK, operated from the Garland Prairie Vista picnic
ground in the Kaibab National Forest 20 miles/32km west of Flagstaff AZ,
along old US-66 in grid DM45ag. Patrick reported, "For AMSAT Field Day,
14 QSOs on 6 satellites - 6 on AO-7, 4 on FO-29, and one each on the
other 4 (AO-27, AO-51, SO-50, VO-52). All done on battery power with a
pair of 12V/20Ah jumpstart battery packs, 5W transmitter power, without
generators or running off my truck's electrical system."

Andy W5ACM, wrote "Everything worked right this year for the Houston
MosQRPitos, operating as W5MSQ near Brookshire, Texas. We were set up
for all possible satellite configurations including Mode S down via
AO-51. It was great to find AO-7 and FO-29 in good shape and fantastic
ops via HO-68. It may have only been one pass at the end of the event,
but it was a GOOD one. Thanks to all for the many satellite QSO's."

George, KA3HSW, Satellite op for W9CCU said, "We managed 21 contacts in
all ... one on each FM bird and the remainder on the linear sats.I was
very impressed at how well AO-7 held up. AO-51 V/S was a treat, and
some observers couldn't believe how strong the downlink was with just
a corner reflector on the K5GNA downconverter. Nice to have SO-67
back, too!"

A report received from Andrew KE5GDB says, "Field day was quite amazing
down here in Houston too. I was one of the operators for K5HOU. I had
never heard SO-50 with so many people!"

Bob W7LRD, reported, "We had an absolute blast on field day. AO-7 sounded
like a 20M pile up. Even the S band operation on AO-51 was busy. With so
many stations on the satellites should we not have more AMSAT members?"

[ANS thanks Bruce, KK5DO and all the reporting stations for the above
  information]

Change of plan... no view of the sky below 30 degrees elevation in all
