BOB>> ... eBay helix ... AMSAT will be getting close to $200 with the
D.A.R.A matching fund ...

For those not counting - and Bob is not one to gloat - this means that Bob
has been responsible for AMSAT receiving darned near $1,000 in the past
couple of weeks.

Donations may be painlessly made online at the AMSAT Store - where your $25
donation gets doubled to - yes, $50.

Or sell a spare radio to your local ham club. It will be put to excellent
use - you're not using it (that's why it's a spare gathering dust) - and
send off the proceeds to AMSAT for DARA-Doubling!

Heck - I am looking at a Diamond X-30 SO-239 NEW IN THE BAG that I really
have no use for ... SEE NEXT POST FROM CLINT!

I have a brand-new-in-Diamond-bag X-30A SO-239 connector antenna for your
consideration - all proceeds will be forwarded to AMSAT for DARA Doubling.

This antenna cannot get a less-than-5.0 review on eHam.net ...

http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/5916

RF Parts' Web page on the X-30A ...

http://www.rfparts.com/diamond/x30a.html

Covers 2m and 70cm at 3.0db and 5.5db gain, respectively. Wind Rating (no
ice) at 135MPH. Excellent performer for portable tripod setups, or scenarios
where antenna height or "restrictions" are an issue.

AES and HRO sell these for $69.95. PLUS shipping. POSSIBLY PLUS tax.

First one in the U.S. contiguous 48 to commit (email clint@xxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx
-or- telephone 909-241-7666) to $50 (PayPal or personal check - whatever)
will get it shipped to them. That's twenty bucks off retail, FREE shipping,
and no tax.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone on the list could tell me whether or not the
Alinco DJ-G7 handi will now work full duplex ? I had one of the first
ones and it would not operate duplex due to receiver desensitization and
I sold it. Now I have been told by another ham that with the new
software download the DJ-G7 should work fine. Is this correct ?

Sold - that is $100 bucks to AMSAT for five minutes' work.

This is fun. Tell a friend.

Hi,

I came across the post below on a Usenet group. I am only a very occasional
ISS APRS user, but have noticed several of the regulars here when I do
operate. My impression is that it is either largely a non-problem, or
better solved through the APRS client. Can anyone suggest a good answer
which I can cross post?

=============================
I want to somehow disable the PTT on my TX from SatPC32 when the satellite
is below the horizon. This is very pertinent to running APRS through ISS.
At present I have to be stop my APRS program and restart it manually at the
correct times and I keep missing passes. I suspect I would need to use DDE
to link to some sort of port control program or maybe via rotor control but
am not experienced in using DDE.

Is there any SatPC32 guru who can make some suggestions?

Thanks from Dick G4BBH

Hi all ye Microwavers,

AMSAT-OH is working on the S/X band coherent/linear
transponder for P3E. The Coherent mode is a fully
functional testbed for the P5A ranging transponder.

Especially the linear transponder prototype has been
assembled and verified with over-the-air tests and
laboratory tests. Flight versions of the submodules
have been and are being produced at this time with
our eyes now set on integrating these together and
cabling the whole job together.

Full verification of the Coherent Mode requires a
fully functional command station AND a functional
IHU + CAN environment to interface our data ports with.
No such tests have been available yet, but all our
preliminary testing and evaluation of the Coherent
Processor have shown proper operation of the design
and circuitry (e.g. locking onto a "modulated" uplink
carrier, tracking this etc.). So far correct live
operation of the Coherent Mode is our biggest questionmark.

Our national team meets on a regular basis every 4 - 6 weeks
for testing and followups of the work of each individual.

This transponder is especially complex as you can
see from these key figures:

     * 9 different local oscillators
     * All local oscillators locked to the common 10 MHz USO
     * 21 different frequency mixers
     * 13 different intermediate frequencies
     * Linear Mode output power on 10 GHz: 3 W PEP
     * P5A Mode output power on 10 GHz: 1 mW PEP
     * 38 control lines on the CAN interfaces
     * 2 CAN interfaces, one in multiplexed mode
     * 4 dedicated direct control lines interfacing with the IHU
     * 14 analogue telemetry lines to the CAN bus
     * Coherent Mode Uplink/Downlink ratio is fixed at 30:7

Here you may find a general outline webpage, though unfortunately in
Finnish for the benefit of our OH supporters, but you might still enjoy
the photos and drawings:

http://www.rats.fi/rats/amsat-oh/

Our team sincerely hopes funding will eventually be found
for P3E/P5A - this is the only thing that keeps us motivated
to continue our work. On the other hand we are clearly behind
schedule, so the delays are welcome :-) But then again, any
news of progress would boost our production rate phenomenally ;-)

Hi,

Today I made an exciting experiment together with my friend Tetsu san
JA0CAW.

Since we can't hear NEGAI* in Central Europe we established a live link
between our stations.

Tetsu gave me access to his PC via remote control (VNC) and I could control
his transceiver.

We established a second connection via skype for audio.

The audio quality was excellent and I could hear NEGAI at a 10 deg pass over
the Pacific Ocean :-)

Hello,

If anyone is interested; I have micro duplexers for dual band antenna
projects. I started building them for some of the the clubs in my area. 73
