The latest schedule (23 - 30 May) contains nothing but FM passes. Last
weeks schedule contained but 2 (two) packet passes - of which only one
was usable here in OZ.
I take it that the omission of packet passes this week is deliberate and
that the FM mode again can be used for packet as well.
If that is not the case I respectfully submit that more packet passes be
scheduled. One a day over Europe would be fine.

Hi all,
I'm just wondering if the early morning North American passes of AO-51 are
still eclipsed or in sunlight. I understand that we should not try using it
when it is in eclipse. My software prediction is not all that good.

Hi Doug,
Thank you for asking.
AO-51 is in the sun during all passes over North America. So feel free to
use it!

I have and it seems to work fine controlling my FT847. I've not yet

Hi Pete, WB2OQQ
I don't think it is possible to consider a PL tone on FO-29 to open the
transmitter to conserve the battery when not in use because actually
FO-29 is operating only:
Voice/CW (Mode JA)
Uplink: 145.90 to 146.00 MHz CW/LSB
Downlink: 435.80 to 435.90 MHz CW/USB
Beacon: 435.795 MHz
and the
Digital Mode JD
Uplinks: 145.850 MHz FM
145.870 MHz FM
145.910 MHz FM
Downlink: 435.910 MHz 1200-baud BPSK or 9600-baud FSK
Callsign: 8J1JCS
Digitalker: 435.910 MHz
is out of service from many years now.In addition I don't think
FO-29 in Mode JD has been designed to operate FM Voice with
a PL tone.
How can you actually open a PL tone in ( Mode JA ) using an SSB
transmitter ?
In my opinion it is best to use a minimum EIRP power on FO-29
to conserve the battery because actually FO-29 along with HO-68
and OSCAR-7 is the best available satellite for linear CW and SSB
operation.
On FO-29 SSB I worked N2UN in New York from my JN70ES and
it was a real thrill to contact Tony with his portable station on a
promenade next to the East River.

Hello,
I'm Thu from Vietnam who is working in a cubesat project, too. Initially I
also looked at Spectrolab and Emcore's solar cells but due to ITAR
regulation it is very difficult for me to procure these cells so I have to
turn to Azurspace (a Germany company). Their 3G28 cells are also triple
junction with similar efficiency and the best thing I like is that they are
ITAR-free, no minimum order (I ordered 20 units with ease) and nice email
support.
That's my experience so if you're interested to learn more, feel free to
send me an email and I may help.
Cheers,
Thu XV9AA

Which size cell?
That's a great deal if it's for the large ones (roughly 40x70mm ...).
Dunno how good the rejects are.

Hi everyone.
I'm part of the Uruguaian group.
This is the email that Emcore answered to me.
EMCORE does offer mechanical/visual (MV) bare solar cells (MV cells are not
available in SCA's). MV solar cells have mechanical anomalies or
discoloration that make them unusable for space. MV solar cells have an
efficiency typically greater than 25% at AM0 and 28?C.
*Price *
EMCORE offers MV cells for $50.00 (USD) each with a minimum order quantity
of 150 cells.
*Terms and Conditions*
EMCORE?s MV cells are offered on an ?as available, first come, first serve?
basis. EMCORE?s standard terms and conditions for MV cells are as follows:
1. Parts sold on an ?as is? basis with no warranty. All sales are final.
2. Quantities offered are subject to continued inventory availability.
3. Payment is required in advance of shipment by bank transfer or credit
card.
4. Customer is responsible for all shipping costs (including
insurance) from freight forwarding office.
5. Minimum purchase price is $7,500.00 for any order.
Sorry for bother
Warm regards from Uruguay
Thank you very much.

Bob,
The Voc (open circuit) = 2.7V aprox
The Isc (short circuit) = 455 mA aprox
The value are aproximate because depends on the technology ATJ, BTJ, ZTJ,
MATJ, MBTJ, MZTJ
This link show the cells and their datasheets
http://www.emcore.com/solar_photovoltaics/space_solar_cells
Important, these value are infomation about standars cells, not for the
cells with mechanical or electrical anomalies
The area is 26.6 cm2 and the size is like a rectangle of 4 x 8 cm
(aprox). Enter
two cells on each side of the cube.
Thanks
Ignacio

Hi everyone,
I want cleared something.
We are searching solar cells or non qualified solar cells for a cubesat to
make electrical test.
It is not important if they are form Emcore, Spectrolab or whatever.
We need between 6 and 12 cells.
Nick, how much cells do you need?
Thanks you very much
Ignacio
PD: Apologies for change the topic, sorry.
