John and all.
In response to your second post about the page no longer being available....
The article is still there, but there is one letter missing from the URL you
posted. It should be HamsatsBasics.html at the very end.
Try this link - it should work:
http://www.spacetoday.org/Satellites/Hamsats/HamsatsBasics.html
73 to all,

Here's an article in a recent Space Today Online page that I came across,
and has a good positive for Hamsats and their acomplishments.
http://www.spacetoday.org/Satellites/Hamsats/HamsatsBasic.html
Note there are several pages, not just this one and the tab is in the left
hand margin.

The day before yesterday I could receive arecibo in SSB and I received
several reports, CQs and ending transmissions such as "over over".
Yesterday I could receive very clear the CW signal, it was a very steadily
signal.
When they change to JT65 I called to EB4FXD and he told mo how I had to
configure the software. The sofltware in an old version could decode 100%.
Pedro EB4DKA could receive the signal witn a single CJU and a THF6, so they
encouraged me to try the contact.
I can?t belive my eyes!, I have never tried an EME contact but with only 20
minutes spare to shut off they sent your report !!!!!!!!.

Thank you vey much indeed to arecibo operators, Pedro EB4DKA y Manuel
EB4FXD.
Every day this hobby is more fantastic.
My setup is:
- hy-gain 7030SAT with CP installed (15+15CP)
- 90 wats solid amplifier
- preamplifier
- hard line over 35 meters
- And old pentium 2 running JT65

KP4AO was copied in Wall Township, NJ (home of the first successful
moonbounce experiment in 1946 (http://www.k3pgp.org/1946eme.htm)).
Equipment was set up in my backyard, and included a handheld 8-element quagi
pointed toward the crescent moon through breaks in the cumulus clouds, 6
feet of RG/8 foam, a Yaesu FT-726R, and no preamp.
Many CW contacts were copied on Sunday 18-Apr-2010 between 1925 and 1954 UTC
on 432.042 MHz, with many 5NN reports being given. The effects of Libration
Fading were clearly evident on all transmissions making solid copy somewhat
difficult during dips in signal level. Significant levels of RFI in the
form of broadband hash and birdies radiated from neighboring homes raised
doubt as to whether a preamp would have done much to aid reception.
(Fortunately, the moon was at 70+ degrees elevation at the time, minimizing
the noise.)
At one point, I hung the antenna from my clothesline and could still copy
KP4AO! This is only fitting, since the 6 director string in my quagi were
fashioned using clothes hanger wire. :-)
Congratulations and thanks to all involved!

I am not sure what a marketing rep for Kenwood has to do with Icom ... (grin)
But I can contact Icom Pat if you're serious.

Icom is expecting to show the prototype of IC-9100. It will be a combination
of the IC-746Pro and IC-910H satellite rig. It will have an optional 1.2 gHz
module and an optional D-Star module available that can be added to it.
Expected availability is early Fall with more confirmed timing after we
start production. Estimated street price for the basic model should be
around $3k with more confirmed info after it is in production. Pre-release
information can found on the Icom America website.
