The possible 2nd attempt to launch the Rocket from Wallops VA
will be this Saturday or Sunday (27th or 18th) between 10 to
1400 EDT. Nothing official yet. But people at hamfests on the
East Coast may see it.

Hi All,
At a Conference in London held today, it was announced that April 1st 2010
is to be the "launch" date for the establishment of the United Kingdom Space
Agency. This will take over responsibility for space from the previous
voluntary partnerships of Government Departments and research councils, the
British National Space Centre.
It is reported that the new agency will bring these together "under one
roof". It will also include the Technology Strategy Board and the Met
Office.
In addition to this announcement, the UK Government has stated that ?24m
will be invested into The International Space Innovation Centre (ISIC) at
Harwell which is also the site of the new ESA technical facility.
Lets hope the new Agency looks kindly towards UK cubesat projects like
AMSAT-UK's FUNcube!

I am going to a local Boy Scouts meeting in 10 minutes to let them hear the
APRS from the ISS and to watch the pass. Almost 90 degs!
There is a pass of AO-51 at 20:05 to my west (5deg) after the pass. I'm only
using a handheld and arrow yagi, but I happen to make it into the bird and
you hear my call, will any operator that hears me give the Boy Scouts a
shout. Thanks!

Hi Erich
I now have almost the same problem.
I had version 11.4 on my COMPAQ laptop running windows XP.
I have been using it with an interface to tune my Yaesu FT-736R
particularly for mode L and S on AO-51. It has worked well for
several years. But every year when I renewed my AMSAT-NA
membership I ordered a CD with the latest SatPC32 version.
As 11.4 worked for what I wanted I never upgraded.
However the other day in deleting old keps from the file I accidently
deleted something else and I lost the map dissplay.
So I decided it was time to upgrade.
I deleted version 11.4. While deleting a message came up 4 or 5
times about it being linked or associated with other progams and
did I want them removerd. As it indicated there would be no problem
if they remained I hit NO.
I installed version 12.6 and everything runs all OK except there is
no signal out of the RS232 port when C+ is on.
I have selected the 736R rx and baud rate of 4800
Com-port is 0 and CAT delay is 20 and checked
CAT control.
I am not too good on computer operation so will need fairly
detailed help.

What is the current market value for a Yaesu FT726 with the 2m and 432

the hand mic and power cord, but no tone board installed. Or is anyone on

Hi,
After some upgrades to my sat station, I am able to work western Europe on
AO-7 Mode B. There is usually at least one 2-minute window to Europe/Africa
on each Mode B day. So far, my best DX is 7438 km with Eric PA1TNO.
Please email me if you would like to make a sked, or listen for me if you
see the footprint over south Florida.

How about a Hamtronics TD-5 Subaudible Tone Module. Notice that you use dip
switches to set the tone, How quaint! I think the 726 has a rubber cover
thingie that fits the top cover that you can remove to access the dip
switch...
http://www.hamtronics.com/td5.htm
I think that is what I used, not sure as it was 15 years ago...

I sold one about 18 months ago for $500.00.
It had 6m, 2m,430-440 mhz band units, sat board, after market pll board,
mic, manual, and service manual.

modules, and the satellite board installed? It is in good condition, with
the hand mic and power cord, but no tone board installed. Or is anyone on
the reflector looking for one?

Saturday, 27 March

Hi!
I will be at the Radio Society of Tucson's second annual spring
hamfest on Saturday, 27 March 2010, at the Kino Sports Complex in
Tucson with an AMSAT table. The Kino Sports Complex is on Ajo Way,
east of the I-10 freeway and Tucson Electric Park baseball stadium.
The hamfest will run from 7am to 11am (1400-1800 UTC).
During the hamfest, I will be on various satellites as WD9EWK for
on-air demonstrations. Although the hamfest officially starts at
1400 UTC, I plan on being on the air for passes starting around
1300 UTC give or take. FM satellites, along with a few non-FM
birds (VO-52 and AO-7), will be used. Although there will be FO-29
passes in the morning, communications systems on figher aircraft at
a nearby air base normally wipes out reception of the FO-29 downlink
and makes that satellite unusuable from the hamfest site. I may try
it on Saturday morning, to see if the situation has changed since
the last time I tried FO-29 down there.
After the hamfest, I have not decided which route I will take back
home to Phoenix. Last fall, I drove to the Arizona/New Mexico state
line in grid DM52 after a hamfest. I could make another visit to the
DM51/DM52 boundary and/or possibly the DM52/DM53 boundary east of
Tucson. If I go west, I could visit other grids like DM32 and/or DM31.
Since I have not set any firm plans for my afternoon/evening return,
any feedback on grids that you might want to hear on the Saturday
afternoon/evening passes (FM birds, and possibly AO-7 or FO-29) would
be appreciated.
Anyone working WD9EWK either at the hamfest or on the post-hamfest
drive back to Phoenix on Saturday who wants a QSL card only needs to
e-mail me the QSO details. If you are in the log, I will send the
QSL card (or cards).
Thanks in advance, and 73!
