Great week to try my mobile SSB sat station!
I hope to record a video and upload it to my website (like the one working
Domenico I8CVS via FO-29).
Thank you very much Alan!

Hi Pedro, EB4DKA
I have seen that between 24-31 jan we have 12 orbits scheduled for Europe
on HO-68
By the way actually I got not the time to see on PC the best suitable orbits
for both of us in Europe
If you chouse the best convenient orbit for you I will be very happy to try
again as we did via FO-29 using your CJU or IO-IO antennas and see the
difference.
The orbits with high elevations are preferred because those with very low
elevation are full of QRO stations equipped for 2 meters tropo but hopefully
without elevation.
Waiting for your news.

Hi All,
I have heard a couple times on the FM birds of stations
signing mobile. I wonder what type of antennas are used for mobile.
I have an Arrow I use portable with my HT. I have a full duplex Icom
FM rig and could just barely hear HO-68 on a Wednesday pass up in Em95.
No preamp or anything yet and just a 1/4 wave duobander.
What would it take to operate truly mobile from an antenna standpoint.
Just playing with the idea. I travel a bit during Spring and Summer and
might be fun to try.

I did. Despite my assumption it was the cap it in fact was not.
There's a strangle little spring that's part of the coupling between
the motor and the first drive cog. Not sure why its there, but it had
slipped out of position and was jamming the motor. I was tempted to
leave it out (as it seemed it would work fine with out it), but put
it back in any way and all is working fine. If it happens again I'll
remove the spring for ever.

Hi Joe and All,
I operate mobile now and then. I just use my Kenwood D-700 and
an MFJ-1724B dual band. It works fair if the bird is not to low.
Some passes are better than others, just like at home.

Adrian this is perfect!? I see it uses ADIF log file formats.? What do you
recommend for log program to use with it for SATS?? I don't see any direct
entry method.? Thanks!

Hello
I am trying to set up my 910/sequencer/amp.? Checking things out before hard
wiring everything I discovered when grounding pin 3 of the acc socket the
radio does go to xmit, and will do cw, ?however to send ssb the ptt on the
mic has to be pushed.? At times I use a Heil head set that has no PTT and I
simply push the xmit on the radio.? Do I have to pick off the PTT at the mic
connector???I am probably overlooking something obvious.? What do you 910
experts have to say.
As always, thankyou

Hi,
Compass 1 survived its close conjuction
with Sich 1.
Compass 1 CW beacon was copied at AOS
right on time.
It was interesting to watch the encounter via
tracking program. Closing velocities of 15,000 meters/second
or 34,000 MPH.

Armondo,
Heard it here as well. At those closing speeds, it would not have been a
fender bender.

[amsat-bb] COMPASS-1 Close Approach
All,
United States Joint Space Operations Center (JSpOC) has identified predicted
close approach between COMPASS-1 (#32787) and SICH-1 (#23657).
Jan 22 14:27 UTC - predicted distance: 429 m (overall)
Can someone listen to the COMPASS-1 beacon (437.275 MHz CW) after this time,
please?
It?s the first US East-Coast pass on this day. Any reports are very
appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hit o the list,
I own an Kenwood TS-790E that I used since there was KO-23 KO-25 UO-22 and
others 9600bd Satellites.
Ho you know with these birds with had to work as Uplink 2m and as downlink
On 70 cm so I have made modifies to these two bands using the ACC4 socket on
The back of the radio..
Now there is AO-51 that has the possibility to go at 9600bd, but sometimes
it has the uplink on 1.2GHZ.
Is there anybody that can tell me if I can add the 9600bd on the 1.2Ghz
module?
I need that it has to work in full duplex as the other one.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Mike,
14:32 utc on Jan 22, 2010 we copied the beacon from Sister Lakes Elementary
school in Southwest Michigan (EN62). We had a maximum elevation of 10.5?.
My third grade students were excited to listen today to see if Compass-1
survived. The boys and girls let out a cheer when we heard the beacon!

Nice that they didn't collide :-)
But it would have been more spectacular with a collision ;-)
Thanks for the reports to all listeners.

Enzo,
I'm fairly certain (but not 100% sure) the transmit modification you
made works for ANY band selected at the MAIN (transmit) band :)
Just put 1.2GHz in the MAIN band, and 70 cm in the SUB band, and you
should be ready to go (I think).
The transmitter modification is at or near the varactor, so it should
provide transmit audio to any selected band. So, I think your radio
is ready to go with AO-51!
Be sure to try to optimize the uplink frequency. Many of us find that
1268.703 works well. At these frequencies, you might find that
something higher or lower works best.
When I modified my TS-790A for 9600 baud packet I tapped the both the
MAIN and SUB band receiver ICs and put a small switch on the back of
the radio. That allows me to work simplex or duplex, regardless of
band.
