Actually my view of it is a bit earthier as I am sure most of those who
know will attest, I am a bit of an earthy character. So please allow me
not to disappoint.

All of the BS that is in this forum, the manure which has been ripped of
any of its nutritional value and thus utterly devoid of content and
relevance, spread by the ne'er do wells who have NEVER done a damn thing
for us except give a lousy few hundred dollars (at best) and then toss
Molotov cocktails, will not launch a single bloody thing into space
except my blood pressure.

My attitude is easy to follow. Shut up and do something useful for the
organization. When everything you can do in a positive way has been
exhausted, write up a report/note/letter giving your constructive
criticism and send it to the organization president and then shut up
until you find another positive endeavor to undertake. All that has
happened here with this policy is valuable time and energy from the
VOLUNTEERS who have chosen to take the assault visited upon them hourly
in this medium, which should have been spent looking for viable ways to
launch anything useful into space, has been wasted by having to write
this policy.

Be glad that I could no longer take it. I would have voted to shut this
mess off and reveled in the silence. Then I would have been assured
that the mindless rot that gets drooled onto the keyboard by the
impending senescence of the monstrously inept that visit here and
blather would at least have none of the feeding that they get by reading
their tripe and congratulating themselves in their continuing delusions
that they have accomplished a thing except hurt the organization.

My very best 73's to all who care enough about AMSAT to actually do
something for it rather than babble from the depths of the depravity
that is surely in most of the ne'er do wells souls.

Bob McGwier
Life Member and active engineer for AMSAT since I was 21 years old.

Bbo. so clever.

this is how the "leaders" of Amsat, you know the ones who somewhere in a
discussion (and I see you reached this stage as well) start to tell everyone
"none of this discussion is launching anything into space"... people blow
fuses.

YOU personalized the discussion. Until your post, the discussion was about
concepts...but "YOU" went into and made it a personal engagement.

it is along with the "nothing is helping us launch satellites" the last
refugee of people trying to defend something that is essentially not defense
able Have a great weekend...go out and do something...it will help that
blood pressure.

Because of life members like you, I can assure you I am not now and will
not be in the future, a leader of AMSAT. I out of the game. I have not
taken a call from an AMSAT leader in nearly two years. The only
notifications I get are on the advisors list. So as a leader, I am next
to useless since I have no role and am not actively seeking one. I want
to do engineering should the need arise (but I am not holding my breath
to tell you the truth). I have personally had all of the crap here I
can tolerate as a volunteer leader. As for you, I would have long ago
taken the pitiful excuse of a life membership donation you gave to AMSAT
and returned it to you, with interest, and returned it to you.

Please list for us the positive contributions you have made to the
organization since you gave it your dues ages ago.

Bob McGwier, N4HY
Life Member AMSAT and ARRL

P.S. And by the way. I have done a few other minor things along the way
in addition to giving these organizations less money than I spend on
coffee in a year.

Bob

when it gets personal ("because of life members like you") that is when I
get out of the discussion...and urge other people to as well. Go out enjoy
the weekend, solder something do anything to blow down. I will. I will
help...last pass for me. take the closing shot if you want it.

have a great Saturday...since coming home I try and I have embraced the line
from the song "I am so glad I am standing here today".

take care make it a great day.

Robert,

Of course you would give a D minus. Your arguments, comparisons and
analogies are always spot on and relevant while everyone else's is
hopelessly and haplessly off the mark. (I thought Clinton's analogy had
merit but then I guess I am among the ignorant.)

Robert you obviously care a lot about what AMSAT was and could be again.
You with your life experience, knowledge, connections to the aerospace
industry and proven ability to achieve should consider running for AMSAT BOD
and while you are at it become an officer. With you in office AMSAT can
secure the launch opportunities that are obviously being missed. Through
your leadership, engineering talent can be lured to design and build the
next generation of amateur satellites. Your charm and whit can be used to
draw the financial resources required to operate AMSAT and fund projects.

Come on Robert show us how things can really be done; run for BOD. Save us
from ourselves.

Yo Clint

bad comparison. Your house, my house(s) (grin), (insert names) house is
private property with an expectation both in common law, law, and ethics of
privacy.

It is no where near the same as a public board which would not exist without
the funds of members who pay dues. If the AMSAT board members were doing
all the financial lifting for the board with no dues used then there might
be some better comparison...but ...

sorry the comparison is not even close. In fact it is frankly very
poor...about the worst one can have.

nice try. I would have to give you a D minus

knocked a hole in the wall of that back bedroom - to feed some cabling

little fire I accidentally started in the kitchen won't cost you too much in

the fridge is now empty - great Omaha steaks, by the way ... and I used up

I have been the member of many E-Mail groups like this that start to
censor, and it does have it's place. But then sometime a fully
uncensored place is also needed to discuss things where stepping on
someones toes you don't have to worry about being threatened about being
removed from the list. So many of these other groups made a secondary
list where these non PC or not approved discussions can take place.

I just made one for here is anyone feels like they want or need to use it.

Dear Idle-Tyme (um...)

It seems I have to join the Yahoo group and agree to the terms of Yahoo in
order to post and be a member. Furthermore, I imagine that the group also
has a "owner" or "moderator" or "leader" with the authority and privis to
remove members or moderate posts.

The term "irony" comes to mind.

I-T

There were extensive discussions over the issues and possible resolutions of
issues leading up the AUP. As part of the process of looking at
alternatives, I made the point that inevitably an alternate venue would
appear for those who are not comfortable with a degree of moderation. (I
called it, mostly tongue-cheek, AMSAT-BS.) There are several Yahoo groups
which formed this way. Thanks for stepping up and doing this for those who
need it.

Yes all that is true. Just like any other e mail list it has the
possibilities of all that happening, but the intended use of it is so it
DOES NOT HAPPEN. That is the whole and only reason for it's existence.
That nothing will be censored.

Well maybe somethings,,, but that will be up to the members too if they
want to read about get rich quick offers, or come and look at my porn
video, or pills that make a certain part bigger. if the group wants them
too so be it.
