To all users of the AO-27 Java schedule lister:
It appears that the URL used by the schedule lister to update the TOPR and
Epoch files contains old data. Please MANUALLY download the current data
files from the AO-27 website and place them in the lister's program folder
on your computer. (go to www.ao27.org, and right-click on the links to the
files, choose "Save Target as" and save to the program folder)
An update to the lister which uses the current URL will be available soon.
The schedule lister can be downloaded from
http://sites.google.com/site/ao27satellitescheduler
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Since this news was not (yet) shared via this BB (as far as I am aware);
We do hear since a few days one of the ANDE-2 satellites again:
Castor (KD4HDO-1) transmits every 30 seconds an APRS telemetry
beacon at ~145.827 MHz.
For those with an accurate clock:
at ~28 and ~58 seconds in each minute.
.. yes, this is on the uplink of other satellites,
including HO-68 (XW-1, Hope-1), interesting !

Hi all,
Recently, we have released an updated version of the RASCAL software
for the reception of Delfi-C3 (DO-64) telemetry.
You can grab a copy at http://www.delfic3.nl/rascal
If you already have RASCAL installed, you can use the upgrade package.
The upgrade package leaves all your settings intact.
Improvements:
- Current & voltage of reference diodes added. This is a measure for
the solar intensity received on the solar panels.
These diode outputs correlate with the output of the TFSC
measurements, and can be found in the IV-curves window (Options ->
Show IV Curves)
- AWSS data presence indicators added. These indicators light up green
if data from the sun sensors (AWSS) is received, and in which quadrant
there is data.
The AWSS data presence indicators can be found in the lower right
corner of the RASCAL main screen.
In the mean time, Delfi-C3 is still in good health and performing fine
in science mode.
The total number of frames as of today is 849670 (approx. 121.5 MB)
and the number of registered users is now at 335. Many people are
submitting data on the guest account (RASCAL default).
Delfi-C3 has been on orbit for 622 days and her second birthday is
coming up on April 28th.
There are no signs of considerable degradation in science mode, so
everything is still healthy.
Thank you for your continued support and efforts to receive and send
in telemetry data.
73 and Happy new year on behalf of the Delfi-C3 / DO-64 team,
Wouter Weggelaar

Anyone heard the beacon lately? I listened for it today and did not hear
it. Has anyone heard it lately? If not I'll change it's status on the

Thank you,
I want to extend my appreciation for the stations that made my Satellite
Demonstration, of AO-27, at 18:50 today an exciting success using the
special event call sign of W2V. If you would like a special event QSL
card, please send your information to WB2OQQ@xxxxx.xxx.
I gave an earlier satellite presentation on How to get into space with an
HT. I had over 43 interested Amateur Enthusiasts that attended the talk, we
all had a great time. I want to thank Clint K6LCS, for his ideas on how to
excite a group, Tim N3TL for sharing his 2008 Symposium presentation, that
highlighted how you can be successful with a handheld and 400 milliwatt's.
Pat WD9EWK, who has put his informative slides on the AMSAT Fieldops section
and his e-mails to me on how to make a solid presentation. The feedback
from the attendees was very rewarding, they took away a feeling that making
satellite contacts is not as difficult or expensive as they thought. I
could not have done it without your help guys and the knowledge shared on
this BB, thank you.

Pete, WB2OQQ

At Echoes of Apollo, we are starting a group called "SOSS" - Save our
Space-comms Systems.
It is to set up suitable entities in countries around the world to save,
preserve, manage and operate large infrastructure for space and science
outreach under the control of mentors. The sites may be tracking, comms or
radio astronomy and we will look to funding from a variety of stakeholders
including government grants. Where possible the groups would be "Not For
Profit" and in some countries donations would be tax deductible.
It is early days and I expect that we will be able to make some of the
dishes available for the occasional EME event. I look forward to comment and
contributions from anyone interested
For those on Facebook I have set up a test group and already have over 200
interested in just one day. You can join the group at:
http://www.facebook.com/Echoes.Of.Apollo?ref=profile#/group.php?gid=23924300
3946 I also accept all friend requests
Overview: "A space outreach program worthy of support. Combining
preservation, green initiatives, science outreach, hands-on for students and
mentoring from senior experts in the fields of space comms, space tracking
radio astronomy and amateur radio."
Description: "This group is looking at ways to protect and manage retired
space communications systems and put them into service for space science
outreach and student education. Historic and useable systems are being
scrapped all the time. It is essential that these be protected and used to
stimulate students and the general public in space as a career opportunity,
both in space/satellite communications or radioastronomy.
This is a global group and will need local support to save any
infrastructure in a particular country. I have lists of aging infrastructure
in Australia and USA at this time. We will look for grants, sponsorship,
volunteers, support and donations.
We will need country reps and lobbyists. It is essential that we preserve
our heritage and our future in space."

A new version of the schedule lister is now available to download at
http://sites.google.com/site/ao27satellitescheduler
This version corrects the issue of stale data files being downloaded from an
old URL. It also increases the refresh rate to every 5 seconds, instead of
10.
Enjoy!!!

Hi!
I am able to recv a good amount of data from AO-51 utilizing
the AO-51 tlm program. Unfortunately, I am not able to collect any
data thru wisp. I'm pretty sure I have the app setup correctly but
never see any messages show up. Had better success years ago with
AO-16 and running PB. Is there a way to get data into the program to check
it operation rather then wait for passes?
I notice from the data I see utilizing TLM that I see a string PB-list empty
does this
mean there are no messages ? Appreciate any feedback but a pointer to more
wisp
help aside from mineo's site would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Bob,
Glad to learn you're collecting telemetry.
Since you get data from AO-51 from TLMEcho, you obviously know what
comp port, TNC parameters, etc. work on your system. That's a good
start.
For Wisp---yes, you can send yourself some 9600 baud recordings to see
if it's working correctly. You can send the audio out your sound
card and into your TNC to decode. If you loop the audio being played,
you can test as long as you want. The AMSAT Digital Disk has some
AO-51 9600 audio files on it (and some 38k4 audio files, too!). You
can search and probably find some on the web to download, too.
Are you seeing any text/traffic via MSPE during a pass?
The PB list: empty means that nobody is in the queue downloading files
or the directory. You should do a directory request and see if it
fills for you. The uplink is on 1.2GHz, so that hinders the
operations of many folks. Truth be known, about the only thing the
BBS is used for these days is for the downloading of telemetry to the
commmand stations. That function is vital to the health and
maintenance of AO-51, so keeping the PBBS running is very important.
I'll send you some screen grabs of a few MSPE setup menus, in hopes
that you'll see something to twiddle that might get Wisp working for
you.
