Hi,
Mike and I discussed this offline. Mike now agrees with the
contents of my earlier posting. So to prevent further confusion,
let me repeat:
RS38 is NOT Ugatusat, but
RS38 = RS28 = Universitetsky 2 = Tatiana 2 = 35869 = 2009-049E.
Meanwhile we are looking for contact persons in Russia who can
provide further information on satellites like RS22, RS30 and RS38.
Anybody?
73,
Nico PA0DLO

Hi Alan, BA1DU
The schedule HO-68 Jan 04-10 for linear transponder is no good
for South of Europe because the elevation of the satellite is very
low and the acquisition time is too short for Italy
If it is possible I suggest you to make a new schedule for the future
with the HO-68 linear transponder ON all possible orbits for one
week and the HO-68 FM and Digital Transponder ON all possible
orbits for the following week.
I checked all possible orbits of HO-68 linear transponder suitable
for Italy between Jan 04-10 but unfortunately only four orbits are
possible with very low elevation and short time of operation.
In addition I found that the following orbit of your schedule is not
covering Europe.
07 Jan. 2010
HO-68 Linear Tansponder
21:45...Turn On
South Africa,Europe,Middle East Asia,NA,North
Pole,North Asia
22:30...Turn Off
TANKS for your cooperation.

AO-51 is back in to it's normal configuration with the 145.920/435.300
repeater at 570 mw and the 1268.700/435.150 9k6 PBBS and Telemetry at
450 mw.
For the month of January we expect to leave the satellite in this
configuration. Sometime next week we expect to use the reversible magnet
to reorient the spacecraft to the normal polarity favoring the northern
hemisphere. This is dependent of the timing of some personal issues
including the impending birth of my son :-) . Towards the end of the
month I expect we can run some L/U voice on the 435.150 downlink between
telemetry collections, but that is not yet reflected on the official
schedule.
Please address all AO-51 inquiries to the Operations Committee vi

Hello,
Happy New Year to all on the list!
I've got a replacement 3SK121 for my AG-35, and I'm looking for suggestions
on how to replace it? The relay coil is mounted very close. I'm curious if
anyone else has managed to replace the FET without removing the relay?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks to all who helped in finding a source for a service manual for this
rig.
I contacted someone who had one for sale. Just FYI - Instruction manual and
schematics for the A/E are available online. But not a full service manual.

For one thing, you have a lot less time on the birds. Totally worth it

Thanks?for the many suggestions I received for getting IT to run on a Vista
(os) laptop.? Unfortunately I can not get it working.? A local ham/computer
guru will, perform the "laying on of hands".? Why computer manufacturers and
software companies (MS) seemingly make things obsolete before their time I
find unconscionable.?

You could always get another old computer and install DOS on it. You don't
have to use Windows.

ham/computer guru will, perform the "laying on of hands".? Why computer
manufacturers and software companies (MS) seemingly make things obsolete
before their time I find unconscionable.?

Bob, while I can sympathise, I don't think this is Microsoft's fault. IT was
written 20 years ago for a different operating system. We can't expect
Microsoft to support this forever, it's just not practical.
It's probably worth the time investment to learn a new client.....

P.S. That is about the only time you will ever hear me defend Microsoft :)

When footprints cover multiple countries at the same time, do you speak
English, or local language to stations in your country?

You speak whichever language both you and the other operator are happy with.
There is no compulsion to speak English other than your callsign.

Good question,
I prefer in English. There are other operators listening and so they can
understand the conversation. I hear a lot of Russian speaking operators
on some fm birds.
That way you don't know if they are pirates or amateurs. I don't
understand a callsign in Russian and I don't know what they are talking
about.
