I get the same problem myself, but ONLY on the 12.8 version of SatPC32.

I have the exact same setup on 12.7, and it works just fine.

Even copied the same amateur.txt and Doppler.sqf files from one to the other
just to ensure I didn't have a typo somewhere.

I just noticed that my FT-847 is having a problem with PL tones. There are a
few things happening...
It seems to want to stay only in a PL of 67.0. When I try to operate on
SO-67 that has a PL of 233.6, I can't get into the bird, unless I tailgate.
As it seems to default to a PL of 67.0 I can work SO-50 no problem. I
checked all my cables, and also went to a different software control program
and it all points to a problem with my 847. After some testing with
different PL's, using another radio with TQSL set, it seems that when in
Satellite mode my 847 will only transmit a PL of 67. I've had my 847 I
bought new since 1997 and I never had a problem with This. When I look back
I can't remember when I needed any other PL other then 67.0, except 74.4 to
open up SO-50, last time about 3 years ago. Before I try a full reset I
thought I would ask here, to make sure I'm not missing anything stupid...

Bob is making arrangements to make PDF copies of my collection of early
AMSAT newsletters which are complete from Volume I number 2 all the way
through Volume XI number 2.

Going through them I discovered a couple of "errors". For example, there
are 2 newsletters marked as Volume VII number 3! The correct one has a
notice that a renewal envelope is enclosed. The "bogus" one has a photo of
President Gerald Ford on the cover. This one is actually Volume VIII number
3!

Also, the last newsletter in the "small" size that I have has Volume XII
number 2. However, the previous (correct volume) newsletter is Volume XI
number 1. The only thing that I can imagine is that someone "discovered"
the fact that the 2nd Volume VIII number 3 was missing an "I". Therefore,
to get things back in balance the missing "I" was included on what should
have been Volume XI number 2! ;>)

Well, it's clear what I should do. Will try remounting on masts as soon as
weather permits. Looking forward to improvements in performance.

Thanks to all and happy holidays!

How do you operate the PL Tone?

Manual or via Tracking Software? If it is software, let is know what
software you are using, maybe we can help.

I have a FT-847 also and with both SatPC32 and HRD no problems, HRD
doesn't want to operate via the Satellite Tracking software, so have
to do this via Ham Radio de Luxe main screen.

Hi

Press the MENU button, rotate the SUB-TUNE knob to select Menu #12,
That is "TONE-FRQ".
Then rotate the MEM/VFO CH knob to set the right PL.
Then press the MENU again to exit.

To activate PL just select FM-mode and press the grey TONE knob (3).
There is a sign ENC visible. You can check that the PL is correct
by pressing the MENU again. IF not, just rotate the MEM/VFO CH knob.

If that doesn't work out, maybe the memory backup battery has run out
of juice. Check also the position of the battery backup switch.

I don't think so!

As secondary users, at least in the United States, we even have to "put up"
with all the 47 CFR Part 15 devices on 433 MHz.

Attention AMSAT Volunteers !

It is that time again when we gather volunteer hours donated to the AMSAT
Program of Work to include within our yearly Audit. These important
donations of personal time help us illustrate to the outside world the
involvement of our members. We welcome reporting in all areas of service
from Managing a booth at a Hamfest, to engineering of new AMSAT projects, to
day to day operational activities.

If you are not already signed up for the on line Web site "VRS" (Volunteer
Reporting System) program, please go to amsat.org and select "Become a
Volunteer" from the link on the left side of the main page. Select #2 in
order to create an account for your reporting. You will be given a
confidential account into which you can report your volunteer hours. Select
# 3 to actually report your 2009 efforts.

We total up the efforts and total value while we keep confidential the
actual dollar amount of each volunteer.

With the year drawing to a close, this is a great time to submit those
hours. After January 1, 2010 we'll download the file and report these
numbers to our Auditor.

Your efforts are important, so please take the time to report. If you have
any questions feel free to email me at: w8gsm@xxxxx.xxx.

Regards,

Gunther Meisse

AMSAT Treasurer

Hello Jeff,
SatPC32 sets the FT-847 sub tone frequency for SO-67 (233.6 Hz) correctly.
I suppose you have the following data line added to SubTone.SQF:
SO-67,233.6,$01,36
The Parameter $01 is the code of the FT-847 for a 233.6 tone. .

To check the tone frequency do the following:
Select SO-67. CAT steering must be on (C+)
Click the control T0 to T1. Above the VHF uplink freqence an "ENC" appears.
Disable CAT (C-).
At the radio switch the bands. The VHF frequency must be on the left side.
Now press the "Menu" button at the FT-847 and select menu #12.
In the display you will see the tone frequency 233.6.

73s, Erich, DK1T
