Hi Doug,

Wow! It has been a long time...nice to see your smiling face here again..

Doug, I use PC32, and not sure there is a better one around...I work
just the cw/ssb birds, and keeps my IC-910 smack on freq., but I
rarely find a cw around anymore, but the ssber's are a fine group as before.
And the tracking will keep any gain antenna you can swing right on target....

AMSAT has on sale, but believe you can still get a freebee to test
it....The free just won't retain settings, but 10 to 1, you'll buy...

I see you changed your cs again!!

Again, nice to hear from you, and I'll bet again you'll hear from a
bunch of the old fogies like me!!

Very best holiday season to all your family from me and Leanore...

Here's my attempt at a step by step tutorial to manually configure XW-1
in SatPC32.

1. ADD XW-1 KEPLERIAN ELEMENTS

Note: XW-1 Keps are in the 17 December nasa.all Keps from AMSAT. If you
use this file, update Keps and skip to step 2 below. If you use a
different Keps file use the following steps to manually add XW-1 to your
Keps file:

A. Ensure that Windows Explorer shows "hidden files": Open Windows
Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> View. Select the circle that
says "Show hidden files and folders".

B. Make note of which "source file" is highlighted in the left side of
the SatPC32 "Satellites" menu box. This is the Keps file used by SatPC32.

C. Open that Keps file with a text editor such as Wordpad. The file is
located here:
C://Documents and Settings\[your name]\Application
Data\SatPC32\Kepler\[source file]

D. Paste the latest XW-1 Keplerian elements into the file you opened.
The Keplerian elements should be 3 lines and should look like this:
(this example is NOT necessarily the latest version)

XW-1
1 36121U 09072A 09349.53641119 -.00000045 00000-0 00000+0 0 31
2 36121 100.5050 046.6267 0007989 035.4736 324.6735 13.16391085 50

E. Save the modified source file.

F. Restart SatPC32.

Note: Any Keps that you manually add to your Keps file MIGHT disappear
if you subsequently do an "update Keps".

2. ASSIGN XW-1 TO A "LETTER" BUTTON.

A. Go into the Satellites menu box. You should see "XW-1" in the list
of "available" satellites.

B. Double-click on "XW-1", then click "OK". XW-1 will now be assigned
to the next available letter in the lower right corner of the main
SatPC32 window.

C. Click that letter and verify that you see XW-1's name in the blue
title bar and its footprint on the world map.

3. ADD XW-1 DOPPLER TUNING DATA

A. In the main SatPC32 window, click "?" -> Auxiliary Files ->
Doppler.SQF. The Doppler.SQF text file will open in Wordpad.

B. Paste the following text into the Doppler.SQF file and save it.

XW-1,435789,145910,USB,LSB,REV,0,0,CWbcn
XW-1,435740,145950,USB,LSB,REV,0,0,Xponder
XW-1,435675,145825,FM,FM,NOR,0,0,Rptr-BBS

C. Restart SatPC32 and select the XW-1 satellite.

D. Open the "CAT" menu screen and verify that you see the 3 frequency
pairs listed.

4. ADD XW-1 SUBAUDIBLE TONE DATA

a. In the main SatPC32 window, click "?" -> Auxiliary Files ->
Subtone.SQF. The Subtone.SQF text file will open in Wordpad.

b. Paste the following line into the file and save it.

XW-1,67.0,$3F,1

This setting is difficult to verify. After restarting the program and
selecting the XW-1 satellite, you should be able to enable the 67 Hz
subaudible tone: Enable CAT, click the "T" button until it displays "T1".

5. ASSIGN THE NAME "XW-1" TO ITS OBJECT NUMBERS.

This is only necessary if you get Keplerian elements from Space-Track.
It's not necessary if you use the nasa.all Keps file from AMSAT.

a. In the main SatPC32 window, click "?" -> Auxiliary Files ->
AmsatNames.SQF. The AmsatNames.SQF text file will open in Wordpad.

b. Paste the following line into the file and save it.

36122 09072B XW-1

c. Restart SatPC32.

You will need to tweak these settings after the official name is
assigned to XW-1. Possibly "CO-68".

Hello

I have received the following schedule from the various coordinators, which I
intend to upload to the satellite. Here and there I had to ommit a pass
since we have other activities scheduled for those times. Appologies for not
grouping the times into different world regions, but unfortunately I don't
have that info in front of me now.

Is it going to be the FM voice repeater or the 9K6 BBS that will be
operating ?

They are on the same frequency.

No 9K6 BBS as yet during this pass.

Lots of stations working through the FM repeater though.

Occasional bursts of 1K2 packet.

Alan said the 9K6 Store & Forward BBS would be operational.

control with Satpc. I can park, do offsets, manually input and go to
predetermined positions, but it will not track any
satellite. I have the R+/- set to +. It should be working, but when I
select from A,B,C etc sat
buttons when they are in range, I get nothing. What am I missing? I have
rebooted several times and have nothing else running.
Any suggestions. My Nova program works flawlessly but would like to use
just Satpc if I can.

Thanks
Joe

Hi all,

worked XW-1 from IM79DC with my mobile station from 12:37 to 12:45 UTC:

EA4CYQ
ON5NY
WB2OQQ

Using for the uplink 45W and 1/4 VHF magnet whip and for the downlink a
TH-F6 and CJU INSIDE THE CAR because it was raining. The bird peaks S6 in
these conditions and max sat elevation for me was 11 degrees. My working
conditions was similar to these:

http://eb4dka.laserenadigital.com/Videos%20AMSAT/VIDEO_EB4DKA%20via%20FO29%20d
esde%20movil.html

The only difference was that the F6 and the CJU was inside with the doors
and windows closed.
Many many stations trying to reach the sat.

Thank you AMSAT CHINA for your wonderful present!!!

Best 73s,

Dave,

Yes, it's 1k2 AFSK. I could easily connect the BBS ? but it?s no good idea
to use both systems (FM transponder and BBS).
The AFSK signals disturbs every FM QSO and vice versa.

No 9K6 BBS as yet during this pass.

Lots of stations working through the FM repeater though.

Occasional bursts of 1K2 packet.

Alan said the 9K6 Store & Forward BBS would be operational.

Quoted below.

" XW-1 FM and store-forwared transponder will be turn on
again between 1205UTC and 1352UTC on Dec. 18."
