Keep in mind they were in all likelihood deployed at different
velocities, so it a bit more complex than just drag, mass, and surface
area even.

Jack,
Those numbers look about right. Certainly close enough to find yourself. I
would suggest using the buttons in the CAT menu to net yourself in. Some
rigs don't work well with the RIT for this.
Which rig are you using?

It's allowed to be off frequency. It's just had it's 35th birthday.
Change your uplink or downlink frequency slightly to compensate.
Where have you "the following" listed?

Just listened to the 01:30 pass of XW-1.... even with just a 1/4 wave
groundplane, that beacon is impressively strong!!!
Can't wait to play on the transponders!!

Hi,
YAOGAN 8 traveling faster could be due to possible initial orbit
corrections and maneuvering that includes minor correction of
injection velocity (delta V). The drag do influence even at
geo-transfer and geo-synchronous orbits.

This will be needed, according to the web site, for the FM transponder.

XW-1's orbit is quite easy for manual tracking, though not quite
as easy as it is for AO-51 ECHO or GO32...
Just remember these facts:
* XW-1's orbits come over 17 minutes earlier each day.
* There is a pass 109 minutes earlier and/or later
* Once a week (6 days) add about an hour and a half (basically
109 - 17)
* The pattern repeats every 6 days but 6 minutes later
Basically the exact pass pattern repeats every 6 days, but
unfortunately slips by 6 minutes a week so a permanent repeating
schedule like we use for AO-51 and GO32 for months is not
possible unless you want to add the 6 minutes each week.
See www.aprs.org/MobileLEOtracking.html
This way say you are far from a PC, all you will need to do is
monitor the AX.25 packet downlink for several hours some day
with your APRS mobile. Once you get a packet, then you can
manually derive the rest of the passes for your trip.
(I hope they eventually turn on APRS digipeating on the AX.25
channel for such wilderness travelers..)

Hello Nels,
Alex, VK5ALX, has already replied to your mail and suggested to add the
following entries to Doppler.SQF:
XIWANG-1 (HOPE-1),435790,145910,USB,LSB,REV,0,0,CWbcn
XIWANG-1 (HOPE-1),435740,145950,USB,LSB,REV,0,0,Xponder
XIWANG-1 (HOPE-1),435675,145825,FM,FM,NOR,0,0,Rptr-BBS
Alan, WA4SCA, suggested the same entries some days ago, but used the
satellite name XW-1.
Also, Alan mentioned that you need to add an entry to SubTone.SQF.
It is most important that the spelling of the satellite name in Doppler.SQF
and in SubTone.SQF exactly matches the spelling in the Keps file.
So (if you use the entries above ) your Keps file could contain the
following data set (the data seem to be precise):
XIWANG-1 (HOPE-1)
1 36122U 09072B 09350.14452292 -.00000045 00000-0 00000+0 0 77
2 36122 100.4974 047.2295 0007562 040.0327 320.1583 13.16283842 130
When you insert that set (with copy and paste) into an existing Keps file
make sure that the length of the lines #1 and #2 is equal with these lines
in the other data sets and that the position of the parameters is exactly
the same as in the other sets. Include spaces if necessary. Use fonts with
equal width for all letters anf figures.
The entry in SubTone.SQF with that satellite name should be:
XIWANG-1 (HOPE-1),67.0,$3F,1
If you want to use the name XW-1 change the name in all entries.
