According to NOVA Delfi-Ce emerges from eclipse at approx. 0523utc, today.
It is still daylight here at 0506 and sun will set at 0552. We have
15h 39m daylight at this time of year (sunrise is 1413utc/ 6:13am local).

Hi Sam!

Your observation appears to be correct. I have seen this about a month or
so after the satellite gets a new schedule uploaded to it. It appears to be
a glitch on the web site. AO-27 should be turning on during afternoon
passes when it crosses approximately 29 degrees North latitude.
Do you have the AO-27 Satellite Scheduler program available from:
http://www.cs.rit.edu/~cjh9783/programs/satsched.php
It requires the Java Runtime Environment on your computer, and there are
versions that will run on any OS with Java or one specifically for Windows
(still needs Java installed). This will get you closer to the schedule on the
satellite, keeping in mind the statement on http://www.ao27.org/ that the
onboard clock is fast by 0.7 seconds/day from when the last schedule
was put into effect (currently, from 8 March 2008).
Comparing the program with the web site, it appears there is a discrepancy
of around 7 minutes (not accounting for onboard clock issues). If you can
get the program to determine the onboard schedule instead of using the
web site, that would probably be a good thing. Or use your program to
determine approximately when AO-27 crosses 29 degrees North, to get an
approximate idea when the satellite's repeater should be available.

This past weekend, W2GPS, WA4SXM and I attended the premier of AMSAT.ORG
in Grand-Am Racing at the Virginia International Raceway (VIR). As
reported earlier, Jim Jaeger (K8RQ) arranged for the AMSAT logo to
appear prominently on the yellow Doran Racing Kodak #77 Dallara/Ford car
driven by Brad Jaeger (Jim's son) and Memo Gidley. The Doran Racing web
site has a gallery of photos featuring their #77 Kodak & #47 BSi cars
available for viewing at http://www.doranracing.com/08_vir/photo.htm.
The VIR race can be seen this coming Saturday on the cable SPEED CHANNEL
from noon to 3PM EDT (16:00-19:00 UTC).
AMSAT's logo will again be flying this coming weekend at the Laguna Seca
track in California (see
http://www.grand-am.com/rolex/schedule/event.cfm?eid=10).
Rick and I have HUNDREDS of additional photos of the AMSAT car in action
which we will post soon for your enjoyment. You will be able to see (a
large photo of) the car in the AMSAT booth at Dayton.

Thanks, Alan! I was able to get strong signal on both passes. I'm
fairly sure that Delfi-C3 started transmitting at 05:20:48 UTC (+/- a
couple seconds).

SpaceTrack updates (I believe) twice a day with anything they can see on
the radar but it can then take several days to correctly identify and
label the object.

Hello!
Perfect overhead pass #18 but no telemetry this time. Only some
sort of carrier. Was the Delfi-C3 data stuck or something?
I think there was some cyclical "data" modulation or interference on
that carrier but all too weak to even identify.

Hi all,
we just heard Delfi-C3 again over the Delfi-C3 groundstation on the 08:53
pass. Signal was strong, NORAD Object #32786 seemed to fit best, but we are
not 100% sure.
Judging from the downlink, the spacecraft is in emergency mode.
TLE's for object #32786:
1 32786U 08021D 08119.87805543 .00000721 00000-0 10000-3 0 115

Frequency: 145.930MHz
Downlink signal in emergency mode are 2 tones, of 500Hz and 900Hz each,
modulated DSB onto the (suppressed) carrier, use USB to receive this signal.
These tones themselves are modulated with 100Bd FSK each with raw payload
data. If you hear this signal, please record a wav file if possible.
If you hear Delfi-C3 please send your reports to
missioncontrol(AT)delfic3.nl
stating AOS, LOS, frequency, signal strength
If possible, please record and attach a WAV file
Thanks!

It is possible that Alan is right? I have listened to two good sun-lit passes
without hearing a thing from DelfiC3. I wonder what the telemetry is saying
about orientation and power system performance? I like it when a new bird

All,
Delfi-C3 was heard again with solid signals in SCIENCE mode on 145.930MHz
BPSK :) over the TU Delft Groundstation. Everything looked nominal again. We
seem to have had an issue with our databus, but the next eclipse solved it.
Furthermore, we verified the command uplink functionality and were able to
talk to the satellite, we even got an on-board database dump upon command.
Awesome.
pfewwww.... interesting days these indeed
Thanks all for listening and submitting telemetry!!!

Howdy,
A while ago I seem to remember a discussion on availability of the small
push on RF connectors used inside the FT-736R to interconnect boards. These
same connectors are used in quite a few radios. They were a crimp on style.
Anyone remember the source?
Tnx

Hi Mike, N1JEZ
I don't have a FT-736R but if the small push on RF connector plug is female
and the jack is a male they probably are SMB connectors normally used also
by HP to interconnect the modules inside the instruments.
Look here to see in the catalog pag H-17 if they really match the type you
need.
http://www.rfmicrowave.it/pdf/connettori.pdf
If so you can find the SMB connectors with easy in USA
I remember many interesting contacts with you on AO40 mode L/S
and the AO40 S1/K test early 02/23/2003............when the new P3-E ?

Hi
In a chat session yesterday about DELFI C 3 with Jean-Pierre VE2AHD we are
questioning ourselves about the mission length. As per the
mission web site (see below) even if the satellite should stay in space for
"several decade" the mission lifetime is planned for +- 1 year.
As no batteries are in the satellite what will prevent the mission to go where
no man has gone before... oups! to go well over the expected
one year period? Components failure? this will most likely be the main reason
for a limited time frame life expectation?
As a cute girl cannot give what she don't have i think there is nothing who
will prevent DELFI C3 to live for several years aside of a
component failure or a shut down command given from earth. She seems to be
made strong but it is an external evaluation...

the orbit. Due to atmospheric drag the satellite will lose energy, and thus
altitude.

Delfi-C3 mission has been developed around a mission lifetime of one year.

Hi Geoff,
Next pass if you don't hear anything on 145.87 or `45.93 try to listen
to delfi's emergency signal.
Downlink signal in emergency mode are 2 tones, of 500Hz and 900Hz each,
modulated DSB onto the (suppressed) carrier, use USB to receive this signal.
These tones themselves are modulated with 100Bd FSK each with raw
payload data. If you hear this signal, please record a wav file if possible.
Thanks,
Bram

On the 1347Z pass over eastern NA no data has been received a faint carrier
but not too sure if it was coming from DELFI C 3

During the 1525 UTC NA pass today, heard nothing on either frequency, except
one very brief, 2-3 second burst of what was clearly BPSK on 145.930.MHz. I
was tuning, and it caught me by surprise, so I was not able to capture it. I
did not have time to look at the S-meter, but it sounded loud, well above
the noise level.
