Hello

It will be a busy weekend on SO-67 as we intend to schedule the FM V/U
cross-band repeater on Sumbandila as listed below (all times in UTC; all
activations 15 minutes duration). We appreciate all feedback, which you're
welcome to post on AMSAT-BB, or alternatively on the Sumbandila Google Group
(http://groups.google.com/group/sumbandila). For progress made during
commissioning of the satellite, please see

Hi Tim and everyone,
AO-7 is what got me interested in satellites. I can well remember
reading about it as a teenager and seeing the artist rendering of it on
the cover of QST. I had yet to pass my ham test but I dreamed of
operating on that satellite. It seemed so exotic and it seemed
unreachable to a teenager.
It would be many years later after the old girls glorious resurrection
that I would score my one and only contact so far on the bird. It was
Mode A because I was having problems with my 70cm antenna but the thrill
was the same. All those years ago that I had dreamed of doing it and it
finally came to be. Even though it took all that time to happen, she was
what had planted the seed.
Sometime after the first of the year, I should have CW/SSB capability
back and I will be a frequent visitor there. Here's to another 35 years
without interruption this go round!!

Hey Everyone,

This is mostly intended for those of you who will be trying SSTV on AO-51
this weekend over North America. I use MMSSTV as my software for the mode,
and it includes an 8-second-duration black and white mode that I'm going to
try on one or two passes this weekend. I'd appreciate it if anyone who
copies one of those images would email them to me.

Thanks!

Add to my previous announcement, for a QSL card you can just send me an
email with details and I'll check against my log and send one out. No need
to send me any QSL's. Hope to see you all on the 18th.

Hi Rodney,

I only need two more states to complete the lower 48 on the LEOs
handheld, with my homebrew "cheap "yagi, Colorado and Wyoming, so I'd
love to catch you in WY on this trip. If we can do a sched that would
be great. Thanks!

I have a cousin to this converter (visually identical) and I found that it
is very sensitive to low input voltage such as that caused by a lossy
inserter, or insufficient supply current, such as that provided by my Yaesu
Ft-847. It will operate at 12V, but is much less noisy and more stable at
13.8.

The dipole on the end, can be easily replaced with a flange-mount N-type or
BNC jack, by only reaming out the existing screw holes, or just mount it
as-is in fromt of your reflector. I also pig-tailed the I.F. connector
using a section of RG-59, an F-connector crimped on one end, and a
solder-type uhf on the other(it fits well-enough).

This is a handy piece of kit, and supports much wider useful bandwidth than
that specified(depending on the comb filter configuration inside). Mine
goes down to at least 2330(6M I.F.) as tested receiving the XM Satellite 2
kW local rebroadcast station 5 miles from here, having the comb filter
removed.

Enjoy!

Since you are in Canada you don't have to worry about U.S. laws.
