The S band transmitter is now off, and 435.150 telemetry is back on. The
L uplink is not yet back on for the PBBS. I had some temporary equipment
problems here and instead of risking getting halfway through some steps
and failing, I am stretching the mode change out over a few passes.

435.300 is back up to over 500 mw.

The L uplink for the PBBS should be back on tomorrow, and the new
schedule should be posted by tomorrow night. Sorry for the delay.

Drew,
Thanks for that.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Turn the full duplex to semi!

Try that first.

Thanks David, Tim, Patrick and Ted,
Moving main band to VHF did the trick, Now I will be able to activate FM25
in Hatteras, NC on the FM birds this week, maybe even SO-50 when I get tones
working for me.

It's time for another College Satellite night! Expect to hear many Oscar
capable NA college club stations on the air Thursday evening Nov.5th-6th (NA
local times) from 22:00 UTC to 0500 UTC for this special event.

College clubs are getting priority on the QRP AO-51 repeater that night
(uplink: 145.880 MHz FM. downlink: 435.150 MHz FM). Please work each
college station but afford them the ability to take calls and make as many
QSOs as possible. We do want you to speak to each other as well, but give
priority to college stations.

Club stations will also be on other birds so make as many contacts if you
can, on each bird. We have encouraged college stations to QSL all the
stations they work during the event as we (either through AMSAT or a college
group) are planning on creating an award for working college club stations
on satellite.

Make sure to e-mail or call as many hams that you know associated with
college ham radio clubs so that they will know about this special event and
get on the air.usage and NA-wide involvement is important. While we are
focusing on North American activity let me know of interest and
participation from other parts of the globe, e-mail me off-list at
<mailto:jgarlitz@xxx.xxx> jgarlitz@xxx.xxx.

I have a G-5500 and GS-232B being commanded from SatPC32. These items
used to work fine 5 months ago while I was using a temporary antenna set
up. Since then, I've been building a new permanent antenna system.
Now, SatPC32 transceiver controls work, but not the rotor controls.

The G-5500 control box works fine as long is it's not connected into the
computer via GS-232B. I can run the antennas up and down and left and
right and the meteres display the correct values.

When I connect the GS-232B into the G-5500 using the supplied AZ/EL
cable, the control box still works and displays correct Azimuth and
Elevation on the G-5500 meters.

But when I next connect the GS-232B into the serial port on the
computer, the Azimuth meter suddenly goes to zero setting. The
Elevation meter displays the correct value. If I then disconnect the AZ
half of the cable from the GS-232B, both meters display correctly. This
is true whether the power on the GS-232B is On or Off.

The GS-232B manual shows 10 wires going from the G-5500 to the GS-232B
AZ/EL connectors on the pin-out diagram. My cable has only 7 wires
total. What's with that?

In any case, computer control of the G-5500 from SatPC32 is not working.

I'm wondering if I may have fried the GS-232B. Right now, I'm letting
SatPC32 control the rig and I'm manually adjusting the AZ/EL rotors to
values SatPC32 has displayed; it's tricky.

Any help in troubleshooting this system will be greatly appreciated.
Later today, I will make certain that the computer serial port is still
working.

Al and All,

The only time I heard Neil was the day he left port. He was M/M on A0-27 at
2127utc
on Oct 30th, still in his home grid of CM87. Anyone else have an update?

According to a report on UKQRM the Belkin home networking devices use the
spectrum 50-300 MHz and generate significant interference in the 144 MHz
Amateur and Amateur Satellite service allocation.
