The problem is not FBB. The reason P mail routing used to work is that
sysops used to care.

The sysop must manually add routes to the forward file that reflect the
intended destination of the mail. Here's a part of one of my forward files
for P mail. It says the recipient bbs can forward these destinations

#The first three are H routes to particular regions in Australia ..

 H *.#SYD.NSW.AU.OC
 H *.SYD.NSW.AUS.OC
 H *.#SYD.NSW.AUS.OC

#This for a particular country (Uraguy) ...

 H *.LAV.URY.SA

#The next two are H routes to continents ..

 H *.NA
 H *.NOAM

This is what each sysop must do for every forwarding partner. Of course.
you must first communicate with those partners to find out to where they
can forward mail.

A H.*.* will just send all P mail to the next bbs. This is fine if you only
forward with a single bbs. It then becomes that sysop's responsibility to
ensure the mail can go further.

The P mail system could be fixed but it needs the cooperation of all
sysops.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had an active database that created return paths
from R Lines?

Cheers ... Ray vk2tv
