Hi Andy and thanks for the reply.

The system I use here is basically two wired LAN's one for the outside
world with only non private unessential data and one internal not
connected in any way to the outside world for the private stuff.

Most of my machines run XP  except for the BBS which is running on an old
486 using win98. I have done this because it is the only IDE drive
computer I have left and I have a stack of old IDE drives which it can use
up as the running one(s) wear out.

The win 98 machine lives behind a couple of firewalls in the modem and the
network router. Internally on the LAN I can use winpack to telnet but as I
mentioned I don't leave the port open normally.

Ok on Linux etc I will make a few comments on that in another bulletin
