Hi All,

In my previous I mentioned an impending mobile installation to include 2m
aprs and voice activities. I also mentioned adding some 2m and 6m voice
facilities in the shack.

There are other projects in various states of progress going on as well.

I own and operate the local (477MHz) UHF CB repeater. I recently licenced
and installed a 2m aprs digi at the site. The site was originally intended
for just the repeater and although the aprs digi is installed, the mast
(32mm steel tv antenna mast) is inadequate to properly support the
additional antenna. I have a replacement mast (80mm aluminium) ready for
installation at the site that will allow me to mount the aprs digi antenna
considerably higher than it is now. The UHF repeater antennas will also be
replaced with 4.5dBd collinears - currently single folded dipoles with 0dBd
gain. That's project one.

Project two is to install a packet node in town to provide better local
coverage of the area than what I get from home. The node will comprise a
P166 computer running Linux. It will run fpac and fpacnode and will have
two ports. One will be on the local 2m 1k2 packet frequency of 144.900MHz
and the other will be in the 70cm band, somewhere near 449MHz. It will be
9k6 half-duplex because the radios (Tait T555) can't operate in duplex
mode. The link will use extended ax25 with maxframe of 32. I think extended
ax25 is exclusive to Linux, but please correct me if I'm wrong. The link
will be dedicated and will have yagis at both ends.

The computer for project two has been running in the shack for some time
with a 9k6 wire link. The radios haven't yet been tuned up ... maybe one
rainy day when I get some spare time!!

Project three is replacing the P300 bbs/node/aprs computer with a P700 but
there's no urgency with that project.

Cheers ... Ray vk2tv
