Assuming you use the default port (6300) in fbb for telnet connections,
simply open port 6300 in your router for both tcp and udp and point traffic
to the ip address of the bbs machine. The ip address for the outside world
will be 0.0.0.0, unless you want restrict to a specific remote machine.

That action will allow traffic for port 6300, be forwrded to the specific
ip address of the bbs. If you use DHCP you should turn it off on the bbs
machine and manually allocate an ip address from the non-routable segment
the router uses. i.e., if the router is 192.168.1.1, pick something in the
192.168.1.xxx range, where xxx is between 0 and 255, but don't use either
of those, they have a special purpose.

If you use a non-standard port in fbb, use that port number instead of
6300.

If you google on port forwarding and include the make/model of your
router/modem, you'll likely find examples of what to do.

Your ISP may also have help on specific router/modems.

You could also consider running a lightweight (small in size, not function)
firewall on the bbs machine to provide a bit more protection. The no longer
supported last free version of Kerio is excellent and very configurable, as
well as being self-learning. I can email you a copy if you're interested.

Cheers ... Ray vk2tv
