I don't believe that the matter should be politicised Kevin. I remember
the outcry against those weapons when that idiot in Tasmania shot thirty
people who were in a cafe having a quiet morning tea. On this side of the
fence Howard had unqualified support.

I read a post on a chat site by a citizen in another country who
commented on the Australian Government action against this type of weapon.
He criticised our Government and said he needed to keep a weapon in case
his Government didn't do the right thing. What was he going to do? Kill
the President?

You were in on budget discussion, Kevin and know the buy back money came
from the Health Scheme? In your dreams! None of us have that kind of
knowledge. You are politicising the matter.

I can understand that you, as a gun enthusiast, can make these statements,
but there is another point of view. You have your guns and can pursue your
hobby. However it has been made difficult for non hobbyists to get one of
those military type weapons that were easily obtainable before and use it
to shoot a group of innocent people as was done In Tasmania and is being
done even in school class rooms in another country where the people have
freedom to carry whatever kind of gun they wish.

Howard's Government's action was criticised by a certain group of the gun
lobby, supported by the NRMA in the USA but there was support from the
general population here.

As a hobbyist you have the privilege of ownership of weapons not available
to the general public.
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.
