Hello Warren and others <the few> etc.,
Yes 2 meters Warren. I sit over on the simplex 520 where
there is a few dropping by to make conversation, and worth it,
just like at the same time having the CB on and chatting to users.
Nice to be able to use them virus free and able to turn on or off
at anytime.
NO more repeaters for me either. The nets are funny for this or
that Emergency Traffic that some fool thinks Ham Radio can solve for
them, forgetting that the Emergency Clots use Internet, and well
thats a dustbin of another story. At the end of these nets is
the familar turning the repeater back to normal usage ... which
equals = ZERO with the ever so many minutes an ID. One repeater
however here apparently is total converted to some new Internet
system, so one must have the radio so equipped to access ....yep
the Internet <Real RADIO>. The biggest laugh is the two
local Ham Radio Clubs to me, as both without warning, announced
as no users, they were dropping "Packet" and proceeding to
use the system to better their connection to the Internet.
There is only one Packet BBS here now...VA3BAL BBS and node with
less functions, until the techies of the Internet...convince
the radio techs that radio is dead and Internet is the way
to go to be a HAM. We can now assume a new hobby....Ham Radio
then the CB and now the PIG Band of Internet for a cyber experience
and someone askig money for me to gain access to this cyber realm.
NOT going to happen. CB and Ham Radio as I knew it are "Radio"
and "RF" and thats how and where I am going. I look forward
to getting back on the HF with my repair pole up to pulley up
my wires <dipoles> and I will be back on 10 - 160 Meters
in a mode using "RF" the reason for the hobby.
Thanks to all the folks I have met via Ham Radio and CB Radio
I hope we can still keep in touch via Internet if Radio has
been denied them. Also hope via phone, and even if we can
a restart to the telephone BBS, and gateway to the FBB Packet
BBS we had here 1992 until 2005.
Too mnay folks to thank, some passed now but still fresh and
remembered. Thanks again Paula G8PZT for the message.
