Hi Pete and all,
Good to see you back, I thought you got lost. You mentioned being more active
on 2M which makes me wonder how you manage to find anyone to talk to. Perhaps
things are a little different in Canukia, maybe I don't have antennas and
can't hear for myself, but according to hams on my favorite Ham Island 2M has
died, repeaters silent except for the required ID and FM simplex dead as the
proverbial door nail. No mention made however of life on weak signal modes,
like most gravitate to FM because FM rigs are cheap and common while all mode
rigs are few and far between being rather expensive. Most are HF ops without
radios that include 6, 2M amd 70cM like my Mark2G that served well until my
last QTH move. Doggone it, the VHF and UHF weak signal modes are only active
during band openings, when it's contest time they use FM and at other times
the bands don't go away so wazzup?
Heh, many elderly hams (I'm almost there) got stuck in my position forced
onto the internet, BUT we don't all live in nursing homes. Just letting the
packet public know rather than making a**** of themselves by assuming.
So, 30C in Brasil, almost makes me want to go in search of The Girl From
Ipanima. I guess I'll just have to be satisfied listening to the record.
