Hi Dave and all again,
Ah, those seen and not heard hams are well behaved children. (;->) To broaden
the field, I'm one of them, being sans antennas these days I'm an alive and
kicking (stay clear of my feet) SK being an internet only ham using Telnet,
e-mail and message boards for my BBSes... save one.
Another disappointment is since I became disabled and SSD benefits won't
support owning a car and nobody close enough to kindly furnish transportation
to meetings I've dropped out of JSARS and miss the old gang. Old is right,
like most clubs and hams in general most are 60+ so I feel like I'm living in
the age of dinosaurs. An old folk song can answer your question:
Where have all the hams gone
<snip>
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn
When will they ever learn
As for learning, that's directed at today's internet and games oriented
youth, when will they ever learn that Amateur Radio is still an exciting and
interesting hobby, radio service in the US. Why as service? Because right
from the start the FCC recognized its value in emergency and backup
communications which is why we proudly excaim the phrase; when all else fails
we are there.
Will you still need me
Will you still feed me
When I'm sixty four?
