Re lack of bulletins, even worse is the lack of users, whilst some of
our BBS's here have no users at all! One such running intermittently, just
to update a nearby RF only BBS.
My main gripe is that there is no user program equivalent to Winpac,
that will run on Win7 Home Premium, It is possibly the most common
operating system program now, along with Win8, that are all the go, in new
computers. As winpac won't run on them I can't interest possible new
users!
However, like myself I find that keen packet users are still running
WinXP/Winpac on an old computer. However 'would be' new users can't source
them and don't want to!
So they fall back on emails and Echolink for their keyboard
communications.
I have tried some alternative user programs, but none come anywhere near
Winpac for convenience of operation, It blends so well with FBB BBS's, in
its auto operation modes, storing headers, PNL's etc, just like an FBB
BBS. No way would I be interested in manual operation!
Unfortunately it is not compatible with an XRS BBS here, that has no
users, possibly for that reason?
