Hi Phil and all,
Instability under low voltage conditions is a known issue with Icom making
them less than desirable for portable, battery operation. Thanks for the
heads up on corroded fuse contacts, sounds like a moisture problem. Yeah,
those in line fuse holders are anything but waterproof, Icom and the rest
don't seem to understand the harsh environment under the hood/bonnet of a
mobile. They don't understand contact resistance either, I had a fuse holder
melt and fall apart with clean contacts so I decided to retrofit with Max
fuses and in line holders which is why auto manufacturers switched to them
decades ago, extremely low contact resistance and the in line holders have
soft plastic watertight caps. Oh, Max fuses have many other advantages like
different sizes and colors for different current ratings and they're clearly
marked so there is no confusion.
