Hi Dave and all,

Those LED lamp replacements undoubtedly have ballast resistors inside there
someplace. (;->) I was wondering when somebody would come up with the bright
(sic) idea of putting the assembly inside a frosted globe, the bare units I'd
seen look nasty. I see plenty of warning signals such as traffic lights and
railway level crossings gone LED and now I hear of them in street lighting
but haven't seen any in these parts yet.

That 10/60W rating is pretty darn close to the 15/60W CFLs which are a L of a
lot cheaper now they've gotten that issue taken care of along with premature
failure. I expect LEDs will follow in their footsteps, unit price comes down
as more units are made and reliability goes up, they're the lamps of the
future. Well, that is until something better comes along like a fusion
reactor, a miniature sun that stays lit for a few billion years.
