Re Leds in parallel, well the instance of high power torches is quite
common now and some have 9 leds, operated with say,3 of 1.5 volt
batteries. but do they have inbuilt resistors, I doubt it?.
However we recently bought two chair side floor mounted reading lamps,
that are 240 volt supplied and have a standard large screw fitment for the
globe.
I then discovered that 240 volt led globes are now offered, in boxes
like the old incandescent ones and available in many light outputs.
We selected 10/60 watt for the reading lamps and although no doubt
using only 10 watts, I am sure we get a full observed lighting of 60 watts
equivalent. Another option was to have soft daylight or white light output
types.
They are of the old globe size and frosted so no individual bright
leds nor the inside can be seen, only an overall bright light. One day
when they fail, if I live that long, I will smash it and advise whether
resistors are included!
They cost on average around $22 each. However we are pleased with the
energy saving.
