Hi Ian and the sweaty,

Ah, you Limeys don't know what hot is, come live here in Yankeeland one
summer and ye'll shut yer gob! (;->) It's comfortable here at the Jersey
Shore for the time being, temps in the mid 80s (convert to C yourself, hi)
and dew point in the 60s, reasonable humidity. Oh we'll have more heat before
it's over mark my words. I mention from time to time I still keep in touch
with Glen aka WEIRDO and when he complains it's hot in Edinburg I tell him
I'll be right over to cool off.

That's odd, it sounds like you have an older analog TV with a digital
converter box like I have, I never heard of remote controls playing up even
in our scorchers. I did have a computer that went wonky in the heat but that
was the only thing.

You mentioned countries that have far higher temperatures, Australia is one
and we had a few sysops down this way having computer troubles and shack
temperatures that kept them off the radio for a time. Not everybody there has
air conditioning especially with electricity rates through the roof, that
caused a friend and ex sysop to install solar water heating and cut
electricity usage to the bone. Yeah, that's why he's an EX sysop, Queen Julia
killed packet in Australia, long live the queen. Yeah, choke on it beech!
There's a much cheaper way to keep cool but it only works where humidity is
low, semi arid regions, evaporative coolers.

Ah, 30C isn't TOO hot at least by New Jersey standards, great beach weather
so Brighton should do pretty good on weekends. Now is that England or
Brighton Beach, Brooklyn? (;->) Yeah, it'll be the usual long cold winter
here too, just something else to complain about. Speaking of which, summer is
nice generally speaking, a mite uncomfortable but I don't have to bundle up
to hop on the bike and go shopping. Come winter the damp goes right through
and chills me to the bone so yeah, I've got something to complain about! Well
maybe not, I could get plenty numb in Nome. Here in Jersey we have a saying;
if you don't like the weather just wait ten minutes. In Alaska they have a
saying too; when it's -20 it's warm, when it's -40 it's cold, when it's -60
it's DAMN cold. The best one of all came from a Ukranian woman a few years
ago; in Siberia there is no such thing as cold, only inadequate clothing.
