Hi Bill and anyone interested,
Last things first, I have an ear worm. Your comment prompted the Beach Boys
(and Glen Campbell on the high notes) singing California Girls. All I can say
is I'm glad they're not all California Girls or New Jersey beaches wouldn't
be worth the effort or rediculous expense. $5 for a slice of pizza and $9 for
a 6oz glass of beer? When I see the TV commercial for Martell's Tiki Bar I
can't help but laugh and think of Snookie. Oh, she's a long story of another
crappy TV show. Google that one if you're really THAT curious, but for
giggles you can see some of my local color on the intertubes, Martell's has
web cams. http://www.tikibar.com/pages/webcam_tikibar.html
I stink you misunderstood, I've never been farther west than Detroit and only
know the Grass Valley Group as competition to a former employer, Datatek.
Fond memories even though there were no good looking young women, made some
friends, found a good small parts source and had a vapor degreaser at my
disposal for cleaning some TV tuners I rebuilt. Remember turret tuners;
click, click, click? That reminds me of a question a "little old lady" asked
me on the floor of a TV shop I managed; "What's that UFO thing for? I never
got it to work." I said something about TV from the mother ship that needs a
special decoder box, she was more puzzled than ever but afraid to ask more
questions. Every job has its stories and like Jimmy Durante: I got a million
of 'em.
Interesting story about doing security and A Tale Of Two Women, another
classic. Security and women have something in common, they never do what you
tell them to do. I found that out early on doing security at a major East
Coast hamfest in Timonium, Maryland and even little girls... well, like in
the movies they give "our hero" fits. Remember early John B. Sebastian and
the Lovin' Spoonfull? Yeah, sure you do.
Did you ever have to make up your mind
Pick up on one and leave the other behind
It's not often easy, it's not often kind
Did you ever have to make up your mind
Found that out with the first two girls I dated and found out about religious
prejudice at the same time. Things were going a bit too casually with one and
then a fireball came along, passionate barely describes her. I made the
switch, pissed the first one off naturally and in a few days the second told
me her mother wouldn't let her see me any more. Why? I'm not Jewish. (:-<)
Oh hey, that bit about the dispatcher getting shot reminds me of a brief
encounter with Lebonny Bakley who was living in High Bridge, NJ with her
grandmother after getting kicked out of her parents' house in Morristown. She
was a crazy chick that would have drove me nuts but her mention of her being
in pornography and a certain boyfriend made it the one and only date with
her. Many years later at the end of the trail of broken hearts this girl with
stars in her eyes left behind her the story and trial of Robert Blake
splashed all over the TV screen. You may know his wife by her professional
name, Bonny Lee Bakley. Funny thing, if not for the grace of Baretta there go
I... and that's the name of that tune.
Until next week, same bat time, same bat channel, keep your eye on the
sparrow.
