Hey Warren!

I've seen lots of packets from you, and who would-a thought you were
ever working in my neck of the woods ?!

Yes, I know the Grass Valley Group all too well. I was heart broken
just a bit when they moved operations to Oregon. They eventually came
back. But, the damage was done. They still have a couple of much smaller
offices around here.

I used to do the security for their off-site functions, like their
Christmas dinners at the Grass Valley Veterans Building, and their
summer BBQ at the fair grounds.

I dated a wonderful lady from the group way back when. Carla. I
do miss her too. She was in sales, and a bit of a sneeky side of the
sales as well. Her job was to sell huge lots of equipment to over-sees
(oops.. over-seas) companies, and get all the equipment shipped. Then
she would sit back and wait for the phone to ring, and the company to
say "Great looking equipment..... How do we operate it?"

Then she would sell them training support, and she and her crews would
fly over-seas to help train the purchasing company on how to operate
their new toys.

At the time, I thought she and I were just "casually dating" as we had
only gone out about 4 months and never talked about anything serious.
I was also dating a GV Police dispatcher (Carla knew), and things with
the dispatcher started getting serious. So, I told Carla I needed to
be more committed to the dispatcher and should stop seeing her.

I wasn't expecting Carla to take it so hard, and I felt both caught
off-gaurd by her intense reaction (severe crying) and realising that
she cared more about me than she had ever let me know, and that now
I had just broken her heart. I felt like crap for months. And then
to boot, the dispatcher turned out to be a little on the crazy (scary)
side, and I broke it off with her. Turns out later the dispatcher married
another guy that when on to shoot her and then commit suicide.
She lived, though.

There was an eppisode of "Married with Children" where Bud Bundy tells
his dad he's dating two girls, and they both want him to choose only
one. He askes his dad what to do, and says, "But dad... What if I
choose the wrong girl?" and dad replies with "Oh, but you will !!"

Every time I see that episode, I think of Carla. I really did choose
the wrong girl. Oh well, can't go back now.

So, Warren, thanks for taking me back down memory lane with regards
to the G.V.G. They were fun times.

I even fought the 49-er fire here back in '88 which threatened the
Group at their main plant on Bitney Springs. All but a defunct facility
now.

Take care, and don't let those Jersey Shores carry you away.
(Although some pics of those bunnies might be real nice - wink wink)
