Hi Bill and all,

Hey, a US station and 6 Land at that! Chit, I thought you finally had the big
one and California slipped beneath the waves. (;>)

Last things first, I noticed your QTH and it's familiar, are you familiar
with the Grass Valley Group? No not ham, TV Master Control audio/video
switchgear. I used to work for their competition on the Right Coast, Datatek,
doing board solder touch up, and a bit of R&D as the Chief Engineer's aide.
That was back in the days of network switching development, our engineer came
up with a system whereas a digital signal rode one of the lines in the
vertical retrace interval along with networtk flags and VITS/VIR to control
every local switch in the network. With one Master Control at the point of
origin controlling everything (control rides the video now) locally
programmed computers controlled the locals so come commercial time it could
stay network or switch to locally targeted audiences. We also pioneered MTS
stereo and our equipment upgraded the NY market stations, great springboard
to go national.

Brag mode off. (;->)

Hey, while Paula is watching birds and ants I'm watching birds and bees. No,
not those dead bees in the birdbath, living a few blocks from the beach and
this being Sunday the Beach Bunny Parade is in full swing!

On the heat wave, it's expected to break today as a cold front moves in but
as of noon as I write it's still roasting... oh well. It's been playing hob
with the infrastructure too, electrical generation hit an all time high and
it shows on the street. I saw it on TV so it must be true, (;->) in Queens,
NY overhead power lines actually caught fire and fell in the street! DAYUM!
This is the first time in my life I ever even heard of such a thing let alone
seen it. It's affecting the railroads too, trains reduced to a crawl due to
sagging catenary wires and "sun kink" throwing track geometry out of whack.
The other day a garbage train derailed just north of NYC blocking passenger
traffic to upstate, the garbage wasn't the only thing stinking in the hot sun.

As an aside, that ozone generator for the hot tub (as if you need more HOT)
reminds me that municipal water treatment plants are switching from chlorine
to locally generated ozone as a disinfectant. I'm sure customers are pleased
their taps don't smell like pool water anymore, ozone breaks down into oxygen
very quickly.

Just to clear up some possible confusion for the international crowd, that
220 rig is actually 232MHz or 1.25M which I doubt is an Amateur band outside
ITU Region 2. You can stop wondering now Paula. (;->)

"I do miss you (Paula) terribly."\
Me too, I miss the friendly arguements among other bits and have to look at
the archived picture to keep old memories alive. Bill, don't toss that PZT
machine, it's one of a kind and belongs in a museum on display for the
benefit of all, not squirrled away in some hilltop vault spewing packets.
That's right, any computer will do, a PZT is something special.

That's right Paula, stop and smell the flowers but be careful of the bees. If
I were you I'd be down by your local scenic railway smelling coal smoke but
that's just me. I love the smell of coal and hot journal grease in the
morning, smells like RAILROAD.
