As I post this it is nearly the time in GMT when Armstrong put his foot on the
moon.
I have looked at stuff about Apollo ii on the net and, now, many years later,
they refer to the times in 'UT' not that horrible French UTC which makes the
Paris meridian Alfa and the Greenwich meridian Zulu.

I had gone on holiday to s sunny, rural place with no TV sets as they reminded
me of work. Suddenly I was reminded of the imminent moon landing. I tried to
find pubs, preferably with colour TV sets but there was a big Cassius Clay
fight on that night. Would you try to get a bar ful of boxing fans to change
channel!.

Ot was no point as NASA held the actual walk back to peak viewing time in the
USA, so we went back to our little chalet with it's radio and eventually, fell
a sleep.
I awaoke some hours later and reached over to switch the set on. By some
strange coincidence, it wa just in time to hear the famous line....
I switched off and went back to sleep.

It wasn't until a packet message from an American, years later that I found
that it was 02:54 GMT, MOn 21 July.
