...
here we are again..

I remember well that traumatic day, also by professional task.
The Fire Dept. was/is part of the "Civil Defense"with an own
"enviromental pollution squad" ("Hazardious Materials" ) and we
metered the radioation.

So fortunatelly due to the wind direction we have not been so
much unvolved as it was in the South of Germany - and in (e.g.)
Bulgaria, where the whole tourism collapsed due to radiation.. IN
that time their whole financial income nearly had been broke.

(But even here a lot of panic happened, the collecting of
mushrooms felt under strict warning because nuclear waste is easy
penetrating mushrooms)

But you wrote abt the support beginning 9. May??

My friend, same day (!!) the fire brigade was sent in and they-
trainied even in the scenario of nuclear radiation - did know
well what happens. They all died within few days but they really
could limit the disaster by dismantelling the collapse and
closing as good as possible with concret.

Later they became honored posthum by the government as "Hero of
Labor".

Just today I saw a coverage in the tv about a German who cannot
live with the fact that the children of that area are left
without adequate support, he collects year by year goods which
are brought to that area.

Whereby he has some problems with the custom duty administration
(without "hi") In the first years afterwards the Germans did
invite by charity hundred and hundred children from that area to
bring them up a little bit and give them help

OK, howver, hope you cleebrated a nice wedding day??

all the very best
the "Kraut" Klaus, DL8OL
