On the second weekend in March each year, hundreds of Amateur Radio Operators and people interested
in technology from all over the South-East United States come to the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center
in Concord, North Carolina, for the Mecklenburg County Amateur Radio Society’s (MARS) Charlotte
Hamfest. This year’s annual event (NEW DAY AND TIME) will be open from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST on
March 8, 2013, and 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST on March 9, 2013.

The Charlotte Hamfest will host educational forums where anyone may learn about emergency
communications, talking to hams all over the world, and how to get started in the hobby. We have a prize
drawing every hour, along with a drawing at the end of the day with several hundred dollars in prizes on
raffle.

Amateur Radio Operators meet at our hamfest to buy, sell, and trade radios, computers, and
electronics. You may see anything from vacuum tubes to the newest high tech gadgets offered by hams,
non-hams, and commercial vendors. Several additional ham clubs from nearby areas will be in attendance
with friendly people to answer any questions you may have. The hobby is open to people of all ages and
abilities, and is a vital resource in times of emergency, such as natural disasters.

I am writing to you to let you know that there will be amateur radio stations setup on the grounds. We
invite you to come take a look, ask questions, and even get on the microphone. We also ask of you to
please spread the word amongst your community and organization to let anyone that may be interested
know of the events, and to come to us with any questions.

For individuals wishing to receive or upgrade their F.C.C. amateur radio license, exams will be offered
onsite Saturday at 1:00pm. Tickets for the Charlotte Hamfest are available online now for a discount,
or you can also purchase them at the door.

For more information about the event, or ticket and vendor pricing, please contact the Charlotte Hamfest
Committee at 704-948-7373 or visit the Charlotte Hamfest website at http://www.CharlotteHamfest.org.
