Hi Rod.
You are the first one to mention the temps in Australia. We heard on the news
about a week ago about the fires in Tasmania and the heat in NSW but then it
all went quiet.

Partly, we can't help beimg jealous; in my part of England we are currently
sub zero and it looks like continuing. In summer, if it tops 25 deg, that is a
scorcher. I have never been anywhere where the temp got much over 35 deg.

I know that other people, like Pete in canada can get a lot more snow than we
do but better summers.

We tend not to believe in Global Warming just from experience but a recent TV
programme mentioned that we have had a lot more rain and lower temperatures
since the 1970s. In the 70s the local parks were full at weekends with people
sunbathing, lads playing football, kids on the kiddies' play graund and the
oldies playing bowls.

None of that has happened for over 20 years. I was beggining to believe it was
a case of 'Rose Coloured Spectacles' but the TV prog confirmed it was true.

I understand that bush fires are no joke but, in the northern hemisphere the
WX is gradually getting worse. As and Aussie e-mail pen friend used to say
when we could SP to 'Down Under', "I'm staying inside because it's too hot to
go out in the yard. I'm just going to get another tinny from the fridge." In
return I sent him a pic of the snow coming down in large flakes. A mutual wind
up. He lived in south Brisbane so probably never saw snow in real life. That
was around 1995 BTW.

Take care.
