Hello Warren and ALL ... and since I didn't have to worry about the
FCC, well that was even better as others inour area were worse,
so I consider I was on a better station.

I liked the delay and bleeper. I can not say how many times I missed
it on Cable TV, and it was a reason many didn't come on when I
invited them, and also too why our union told me, or advised me to
cease being on Cable TV.

There are times, like the Sandy Marthon where you see and hear these
things and hope the FCC is not listenning, but then there are those
who look for these and other things.

Thats what I wondered too! Apparently there was something worked out
to issueing Canada's first CB or GRS stations with XM. The first
call I ever used < given permission> was XM41 3767 . X should be
Mexico. Yeah..got that from a callsign booklet issued by ITU.
Then an "M" "41" was regional meaning all Ontario. That was stopped
near 1966 as 42 were issued for Toronto applicants of which I became
summer of that year. Yeah became of age. Canada issued XM and low
number from East Coast to west coast. Got an XM11 something... and
he turned out to be in the RCN at sea on a Naval vessel.

> OK on fewer channels, that's another thing I don't remember.

It was interesting. of the 1,2,3 ...hammies only used Ch 2, and
the nets were great. Another interesting thing happened which was
American CB Operators trying to communicate legally on ch 2 from
the USA to a VE in Canada ... and sometimes ...well we got a few
US hammie callsigns being used too...very confusing.

> Hmmm, your callsigns were home made, unless I'm mistaken there are
> a few countries where Amateur calls are likewise.

In the beginning, as my learnered friend, now decased put it, it
was all experimental. His intials HC became his call..then confusion
so he used XHC then CHC and at that time the American HC used something
else, and I guess they got something going International and he became
a 9something untill he became a VE3 ... but before he passed away He
had lots of fun on Ham and CB and so many memorys and letters to
show for it. I found him a Benton Harbour Lunch Box which he never
had but wanted, and he gave me for someone a peanut tube and others
other things. When they cleaned the home, a lot of history was
lost, gone to the garbage and landfill.

The CB or GRS was explained in a 1967 book issued to all GRS users
as an ISM Band. It was supposed to be a temporary, with a new
band coming sooner or later. Yes you described ISM right on the
ticket.

Another thing...was the Ch 23...We always thought you guys were darn
lucky not to have that tone thing going all the time on 23.

The Tram Titan 2 had the RC channels marked on the tuner.

There were catches to the wording, and we got around it. Everyone.

The Business Messenger Two, had extra wattage coming out, but then
that was due to a R being cut. All the 10 channels I have in there
now work, except due to a fire, the selector is a bit wonky. Their
last business band radio was actually a Sonar FS23C with one bank
removed to allow for the business channel. I think they even had
an early SONAR D which a few channels.

Our CB Business Band ended with the expansion to 40 channels and
nearly after that there was a postivie puch to send Canadian GRS
to 900mhz, as Midland made some protypes I have pictures of.

There is a lot of BCN Intel stuff that is in history but not
very well told. Of course sadly after WW2 BCN ceased to operate
as the KGB had everyone convinced the other was a spy. But since
some things are still classified and UK still has a band on some stuff
well... mums the word.

When you mention Havana and CUBA. I can only say that their Internet
is void to not there. The city needs to be totally bulldozed and
re-built.
