Hello Warren and all, and no you didn't confuse me, as I was already
on-air, and for want of the five second delay, there were times when
I hated "live" shows, as sometimes I just crunched my knuckles when
someone said something that might bring out a complaint, that meant
a trip to a hearing on what the complaintee thought they heard.

There seemed to be two tapes of my on-air sessions, those taped by
the listener or viewer and those kept by the station.

Never did American Baseball, so didn't have to read the "speech"
and I did Hockey..no speech. Also some commercials.

There was something neat, and it was that callsigns were made up
so my elder uncle, made his up and found out he had to put a letter
in front due to another with the same, and then they both had to
put designated letter in front to denote CANADA or USA, and it grew
from there. I preferred DOT. Most were knowledgable, and
easy to get to know, and one in the Toronto office was on the GRS
when it started, and most of staff was pre-war old school...but
DOC was the years of thinning the herd to those who weren't anythings
and well Industry Canada I have not had any contact with, they seem
dead to any form of relationship or on talking terms to know anyone.

OK on the FRC and then FCC. Before the war, they changed their act
to do a nasty on a NAZI station operating in the US.

You are right on about the DOT. GRS was all business and they were
a hard lot, due to our Radio Act, and why would business radio have
reciprocal agreements? That changed later, but I do rmember friends
coming from the US with their calls and tacking on XM at the end.

Yep you ..I guess used KMD7606 XM ....

Our channels went from ch 4 to Ch 22. For some reason Ch 23 was
supposed to be used by Bell Telephone. I seem to remember 27.360
for business and yes higher wattage, and wasn't that funny since
the harmonic of 27 is on a aircraft freq of 109 which was used
in our area.

Ahh then ch 1,2,3 were all that remained of the Hammie 11 meter
band ...but only in CANADA. Lots of GRS'ers hearing the
hammies on ch 2, got their tickets that way, as the Hammies
setup over the air courses, such as code. Too bad it ended,
but then there were too many for giving 1,2 and 3 to the GRS.

Yes on the Tow truck business, and even a radio store, and the
E.F. Johnson I have from a business was the Johnson messenger 2.

Yes. By everyone commenting, it shows the differences in each
country, and the tangled web we tread. What we get away with here
is a no-go somewhere else.

> Ice pops eh? How 'bout a tongue sandwich? (;->)

I have not had cow tongue for a long long long time, and I doubt
I ever will. I can remember the years after the war, as well
Ian when we'd eat anything. Yeah I remember tongue, just like
SPAM and fried SPAM ....and the list goes on.
