Hi Warren and anyone else interested.

In 2010 we had an election for the UK government which was the usual
'first past the post' system. The British public didn't trust either of
the two main parties and the normally unelectable Liberal Democrat party.

No party got above the minimum vote necessary to form a government so the
slightly majority Conservative party formed a coalition with the Lib Dems,
giving them a slight majority but they fight like cat and dog and the
voters are very dissatisfied.

At the same time we had the European election for members of the European
Parliament. I think Pete doesn't quite understand the set up under PR,
which was used. The MPs under First past the Post just represent a borough
ar a few towns. The MEPs under PR represent a much larger geographical
area, in my case, the whole of the north west of England so we don't have
an increased number of MEPs with one MEP covering an area represented at
national level by about a dozen MPs.

In the NW, we elected Nick Griffin, who is head of the British National
Party,Despite them being referred to as 'racist scum' and generally
denigrated by the media.

Nick Griffin and his 2IC Andrew brons were both elected as MEPs and went
off to Strasbourg to take up theeir duties much to the chagrin of our
mainstream parties and their media mouthpieces.

This made the National parties very afraid of PR and that explains why
they had a referendum on PR which, as I explained, they changed to AV,
just to confuse people so it got flushed away without trace. Very
ocasionally, we hear a remark on the BBC or one of the other programmes,
about Nick Griffin and the BNP but no serious coverage of their debates at
the European Parliament. I presume they are hoping that if they ignore the
BNP they will go away.

Anyone who wants to see anything about the British National Party will
have to type it's full name into a search engine and follow the links to,
say, BNPtv.com which is 24/7 news and current affairs from the BNPs own
version of a TV channel.Typing BNP will not work, at best it will take you
to a banking group or a Black Power group.

As for PR, it has been used down under for many years and the VKs and NZs
are so used to it that they don't even think about it.

Best of luck with Mr O'Barmey or Mutt Romney, you will get what you
deserve
