"RFSM-8000" by the "RFSM-IDE Group". What is it?
This is a shareware, sound card based, 'R'adio 'F'requency 'S'oftware
'M'odem.
Its purpose: Simply connect two users over the ether and simple
file/e-mail exchange.
Utilizing a HF/VHF/UHF transceiver and a PC with an available sound
card.
Current version is 0.523.
Attention! We invite all for receiving FREE callsign-based
RADIOAMATEUR license.
For current version (0.523 and for all next), send us an email (with
your callsign),
and we will send back RADIOAMATEUR license, which allow using of ALL
features of RFSM-8000 (for testing and evaluation).
The free RADIOAMATEUR license is time-limited (trial period is 30
days), and allow using one pre-defined callsign.
Beta-testing will terminated in closest future, and all beta-licenses
will not work.
We start selling professional licenses:
- ACTIVATION KEY (RADIOAMATEUR license) - price 180 USD
- Professional FULL LICENSE (allow using ANY callsign) - price 290 USD
Full license or activation key allow using of ALL features of
RFSM-8000 without ANY limits.
Licenses and activation key is text strings (in Base64), and must be
entered in special menu "Enter license key...". This licence will be
mailed to you.
1. Capabilities of «RFSM-8000» (and will be extended)
- NEW! operates as local e-mail server/client (POP3/SMTP without
security (SSL), please, check your server). See "using
e-mail.txt".
- backward compatibility with «RFSM-2400»;
- More speed – up to 8000 bps (for registered users ONLY);
- No limits on size of transfered files (for registered users ONLY);
- Uncompleted transfers can be resumed;
- Use built-in compression of transfered files (for registered users
ONLY);
- Transmitter control over CI-V interface;
- Broadcast chat (without connection) (for registered users ONLY);
- Logarithmic spectroscop view;
- "Waterfall" (colored/grayed) view (for registered users ONLY).

2. Description of the program:
- operates under standards MIL-STD 188-110A / MIL-STD 188-110B App.C,
(also under a modified version).
- maximum speed 8000 bps (standard mode) and 6666 bps (non-standard
mode).
- signal bandwidth: 0.3-3.3 kHz (standard mode) and 0.3-2.7 kHz
(non-standard mode).
- uses adaptive correction.
- uses SSE2 optimization (if available on CPU).
- transmitter control over COM-port (DTR or RTS line, or CI-V
interface).
- allow correction of sound card discretization error.
- file transfers are accomplished utilizing ARQ.
- simple user interface, database, and packet display monitor.
- allow simple remote control and file-based IPC (for automatic
connecting and file transfer).
- multi-language support.
- advanced features: Spectroscope, IQ-diagram, View of received raw
data.
- allow operation as "dumb modem" (only in non-standard mode). No user
commands,IPC only (see Section 6 for details).
3. Required PC.
- CPU: Pentium-III 600 / Athlon 600 or more.
- RAM: 64 Mb or more.
- Video: VGA, minimum 640x480 resolution, or more.
- Soundcard: full-duplex, DirectX-compatible, 44100 Hz or 48000 Hz.
- OS: Windows 95/98/ME/2K/XP/2003 (with DirectX 5.0+) or Linux (with
WINE).
- Peripherals: COM-port (for transmitter control).
Warning: Operating under Linux/WINE is CPU intensive! There may be
problems with the ability to
capture audio.
