Interesting, and if I was still BBSing, I might have gone all this
route too, but then my last BBS program was Wildcat Ver420 DOS and
after that Santronics got into the act, and their support of me
and other sysops in our area...well, it was over.

My BBS here was connected to a few networks, and we enjoyed them
as well I had a gateway <door> to the Packet TNC I had connected
to the BBS computer. This was ok for local Packet BBS sysops to
checkout their BBSes and the ARN BBS system. Also stored Ham BBS
files, and still have a few CDs around form those days.

The other reason for the gateway, was to keep senior hams on-air
as the retirement homes didn't allow ham activities, so was a way
for them to keep a hand in things.

As for postings, to the BBS, for all users, a few via the gateway
brought them back and posted them, and I think you are right here
as it generated interest, and a few Shawn got their VE3 or VA3
tickets, until the BBS closed in 2005, just as a deaths in the
family and medical problems forced me to retire before 65 years of
age.

I think I posted something like this a few years ago via the Fidonet
but then , by that time, as always seems to be there ... a few decided
to try bully me, and conversations there were useless, and were
gutter remarks, thus enough...I gladly left.... No regrets.

With the way the Internet is going, I really wish you luck with the
BBS. Last time I looked at a BBS system, they wanted $ 600 US,
and well I am not a computer guru, just had it here, as a service
and social spot for the area, which it was until the Internet started
to kill it in 1999 when dial-up first arrived, then cable and dsl
etc... I think the last year 2005, I had myself and 2 or 3 other
users, and then it wasn't worth it or satisfing, and well as with
all sysops, there is our private lives, and as you know as a sysop
the users only care about the BBS...no care for the sysop.

Hope we can stay in touch... 73 Peter VE3WBZ
