Hi Bob and all,
With the exception of Today In History all else is Amateur related, even
the flowers. When you condemn 7+ you condemn other image modes as well
such as ATV and the ever popular SSTV that has been around since the days
of ROBOT and that cute little orange CRT that nearly faded by the time
the image was complete.
Don't get me wrong, we can well do without those bulls copied from the
internet, we're long past the days when packet was its arm reaching out
to those who don't have access otherwise. Rather than kicking up such a
fuss I'll remind you once again there's a quiet and much simpler way of
eliminating "packet spam" and it's right there in Winpack. Roger
published a manual that goes way beyond the help files included in the
software... seek and ye shall find.
Here's a helpful hint, the internet version of SWPC (Space Weather
Prediction Center) may be found on the NASA website being html has some
pretty neat graphics that don't play nice with packet. I don't recall the
URLs at the moment but typing SWPC into your search engine will turn it
up.
"It is dying a\rapidly and the junk mail is not helping keep it alive."
Actually it is in an odd sort of way, think back on the number one reason
BBSes shut down, lack of traffic. When it comes down to the service not
being worth the price of activity it's time to pull the plug.
Bottom line here is should you quit you're not solving the problem,
you're part OF the problem. Where's that old fighting spirit mate?
Ranting about it won't make it go away but you have the most powerful
weapon in your arsenal right at your fingertips, the bit bucket. What you
don't download won't bother you. Roger, his hand outsteretched.
