Museums on the Air this year will be 16/17 and 23/24 June 2012.

De-brief Sat 14 Jan 2012.Conditions Good till 1400hrs when AFS Contest
started and caused a lot of splatter on 3.710. 31 Stations worked and
closed down at 1555.
RAFARS Stations worked: G4PFR, G3RAF/A, G0SDZ, G2AFV, G4SWO and G3FKI.
CQ CW DX 14.055 at 1200-1215. No reply
CQ CW on 3.567 at 1300-1315. RAFARS G0SWO and G3LVP (Both 599).
GB2RAF is also applying for GQ2RAF (Queens Diamond Jubilee) for Sat 12 May
GB2RAF will be operational for Museums on the Air June 16 (Not 2nd Sat).
GB2RAF will be operational normally every 2nd Sat of the month.
Primary Frequency 3.710Mhz but if 80m is down we will be found on 7.055Mhz.
Any RAFARS Member can operate the station but contact Terry G4PSH first
for your licence Call-sign confirmation and please bring an ID with you.
RAFARS QRV JOURNAL.
The editorial team have finished drafting the Spring 2012 edition and, as
usual, are now looking for items for the next QRV Edition with your
articles, snippets, stories and your pictures for future Journals.
Please send your items, if possible as a MS Word attachment to a covering

AIR TRAINING CORPS.
Any information relating to the ATC or those interested in joining as
Officers or Instructors please contact HQAC Radio Society Dave M5AGW

At the moment there is a staff shortage for Radio Officers and Radio
Civilian Instructors. An ideal person would be a RAFARS Member. It would
take up about 4hrs of your time once a week with training, and you would
be paid transport fuel costs to/from Home to your ATC Squadron. Contact
Terry at News Desk if you are interested or wish to know more details.
INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION (CITY IN THE SKY) AND RUSSIAN SOYUZ VISITS.
30 Mar Soyuz 30S Manned Spacecraft to/from the ISS crew change.
25 Apr Soyuz Progress P47 Stores Supply craft only to/from the ISS.
30 May Soyuz 31S Manned Spacecraft to/from the ISS with crew change
25 Jul Soyuz Progress P48S Stores Supply craft only to/from the ISS.
26 Sep Soyuz 32S Manned Spacecraft to/from the ISS with crew change.
The system used now is that when a manned spacecraft is sent to the ISS it
remains at the ISS until the next return schedule so, if anything should
go wrong, they have a means of escape my using the module back to earth.
Note - All Soyuz lift off are from Baikonur Cosmodrome, in Kazakhstan.
All missions are subject to delays.
If there are any members who wish to obtain ISS naked eye visual passes
contact News Desk for dates and times. Next sightings 17 to 27 of Feb.
