Angela may have a good point there. I was in a discussion with a packeteer
in the US a few years ago when the Afghanistan trouble started. The other
feller said something about the best solution being the dropping of an A
bomb on the place and wiping it off the face of the earth. I objected to
this.
A few days latter I got a letter through the post from someone in Geelong
(Aust) with some obscene drawings on a paper and a crudely typed note
saying the writer was going to come over here, burn my house, Murder me
and rape my wife and daughters. He obviously did not know me though he had
my postal address and had obviously read the packet discussion but had
mistaken who said what. He wanted the feller in the US not me; he was the
one who said it.
I took this to the police who said it was of minor interest to them but
they would put it through their system. I heard nothing more of the
matter. I think if that letter had come a few weeks later when the attack
on the WTC took place the police may have had more interest in the case.
Obviously this feller had access to packet and a call book but did not
know me as my wife died some years previously and my daughters were
married and living elsewhere.
I am still alive and my house has not been burnt down nor have my
daughters been attacked.
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.
