That brings back memories Warren.Gestetner duplicators with those infernal
wax sheets, which, when you finished the job and removed them, covered
with black ink, managed to wrap themselves around something and leave the
operator with hands covered with black goo.
Then there was the el cheapo duplicator of jelly with a copy sheet typed
in purple. The fluid which made the copy was metho. Not recommended as an
alcoholic drink! I can remember my father using a home made purple
printing jelly one in the 1930s.

And yes I remmmember the temperature sensitive papers and the copier that
used it. you rolled the paper and the neegative around a hot drum, and you
made a copy which lasted for a few months if you did not let the light get
to it for too long. If you left in the light it gradually faded.

Now making copies is a breeze with computers and the cheap printers
available today. The first printers I used were matrix type with a roll of
perforated paper. Then I bought a REAL printer an HP laser reduced from
$1300 to $850 - the 4L. I thought that was a bargain but they didn't tell
me that the HP 5L was coming out the next week at $500!! I still use the
laser HP4L. It is about the cheapest to run.

At my school the first printer we had was a Nashua IFIR which had a bath
of some liquid in the base of the copier. If someone bumped it too hard
the liquid toner splashed over the bench and any papers you had left on
it..
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.

Temperature sensitive paper aye? Once upon a time I had a photocopy
machine and a FAX that used it, give it a few weeks and everything went
brown. (Insert comment about crappy here.)
