In my case I started out with packetmon, this was an swl program that
lets you collect messages on the bbs frequentie without connecting and
used a hamcom opamp modem.
Afterthat I went for baycom and soon after SP both using the baycom modem.
Later switching to tsthost with a tnc2s and tnc2h (1k2 and 9k6 made by
symec)
Now I use BPQ32 with BPQMailChat and thunderbird as message reader
connected to a kenwood tmd700 and tnc2h.
