Hi Ian and all,

Like they say, early bird gets the worm but second mouse gets the cheese,
hello second mouse. (;->) It sure didn't take long before word got around
any time a ham equipped bird flew and everybody jumped on the bandwagon,
yeah, some cheat with big guns when all that's needed is a ground plane
and QRP.

Hmmm, what you saw may not have been falling space junk, bolloids are
fairly common and in recent years two spectacular horizon to horizon
displays were seen over the US. In one case it lit up the ground like a
bright full moon and was captured by security cameras all over. Then
others showed up in daylight and cameras caught the spectacular trail,
makes me wonder if any Amateurs worked those particularly intense meteor
scatter propagations. BTW, 6M is the band for meteors since a good burn
can last nearly a minute, long enough for two contacts using SSB. I had
lots of fun racking them up a few times, not having WSJW (computer driven
high speed CW) I never tried 2M or 70cM where contacts are fleeting at
best.

Eh, I'm more concerned about getting hit by lightning than a meteor even
though the latter have been known to punch holes in cars and houses. (;->)
