Today in 1962, the first communications satellite, Telsar, was launched
from Cape Canaveral,Florida.
I remember this well. Every country it passed over, if capable, put out a
few minutes of programme. The French one amused me; a troupe of girls in
white dresses were dancing then, just before LOS, they danced through a
pool which made the white dresses transparent.
Quite a shocking thing in 1962, for a few seconds they were nude. No way
of censoring it back then either :-)
