VETERANS WEEKEND GB2VET 29/30/31 JULY 2011 RAFARS MEMBERS NEEDED.
Hull City Council are holding the annual Veteran's weekend at the
East Park, Holderness Road, Hull, East Yorkshire. RAFARS has been invited
to attend. Call sign as in previous years is GB2VET. Due to a shortfall in
help to install and operate the station, I have approached the Hull Radio
Club, who have helped me in past years. They are loaning us a portable,
mobile shack which will be very handy especially if the Wx is inclement.
Help is also needed with operating. We hope to operate the Vintage WW2 RAF
1154/5 equipment at 25 watts max output with 30 minute breaks to allow the
output Tx valve to cool down.
Modern HF & VHF equipment will also be in use on open bands 20-40-80. Most
of Saturday we hope to be on CW (40m if open and other bands); 2m., 70cm.,
& D-star. The suit-case spy radio set rebuilt by Ken G4KCF will operate CW
on 3.577 or 7.030Mhz with an output 3 watts.
Ant. equipment is a Inverted V dipole and full size G5RV with open wire
feeders and a Vertical UHF VHF Diamond 2000.
With the extra help promised this year I hope to increase the Vintage
Radio display and the Vintage transmitting valves display. There are also
compasses from a Lancaster and Spitfire, a Pip Squeak Friend/Foe warning
equipment plus a demonstration of an audible Morse oscillator.
QSL cards will be available on request. QSL Via RAFARS Bureau, RSGB or
direct with SAE to G0SWO QTHr.
Comment - Bernard needs lots of support from RAFARS Members, particularly
those who live locally. If you are able to help - even for a few hours of
of your day - please contact Bernard G0SWO RAFARS 2912 FR QTHr.
