NEW ZEALAND EARTHQUAKE.
Council has made e-mail contact with ZL1AH and ZL2CX following the recent
devastating earthquake and is delighted to report that replies have been
received from both of them. They and their families have not been directly
affected. Both have expressed their appreciation for the thoughts and good
wishes of their RAFARS family.
AOTA, AIRFIELDS ON THE AIR WEEKEND 2-3 APRIL 2011.
Once again The Royal Air Force Amateur Radio Society is putting on an AOTA
Weekend on 2/3 April 2011. For details see RAFARS News Letter 153 Feb 2011

If RAF Establishments, Airfields, Permanent SES that hold a RAFARS Number
wish to take part throughout the year, inform Vince G4DQP who will put you
on the AOTA activations list. You will be able to give a point to stations
who request a contact point for the awards. A station is not permitted to
give out AOTA points if it does not appear on the AOTA list.
URGENT HELP REQUIRED AT THE BLACKPOOL RALLY - APRIL 10th 2011.
The RNARS RSARS and RAFARS stands are again going to be co-located at the
Blackpool Rally on 10 April in the Norbreck hotel. Contact Roy G0TAK today.

RAFARS QRV JOURNAL.
There are exciting things afoot regarding the publication and style of your
QRV, more of which in the Autumn edition. The Editorial team will still
rely on the input of members to make it interesting and relevant to the
hobby as RAFARS members practice it. Send your submissions, if possible as
Word attachments to an email with separate jpg pictures and diagrams, to
Roy G0TAK QTHr, QRZ Callbook, www.qrz.com or email him at g0tak@kencomp.net.
One member who submitted an article for the Spring QRV was in a very hot
and sandy place when he put the article together. What can you do from
your nice, temperate, shack? Do it as soon as possible so that we can get
to work on the new format.
RAFARS QRZ CALL BOOK
Members should have now received the QRV/QRZ Spring 2011.
The new QRZ contains the details/rules of all Contests, Awards including
AOTA, and RAFARS Nets. Dates and results will be available on our web site
and printed in QRV and this newsletter.
OPERATION HOME GUARD 2011.
RAFARS, with the assistance of RSARS, will put on an S.E. Station in support
of the annual Operation Homeguard held in the village of Ingleton on 1-3
July 2011. This is a 1940's re-enactment of the liberation of the Ingleton
twin town in Normandy. The callsign is yet to be determined. Anyone who is
able to assist in setting up and running the station, please get in touch
with Roy g0tak@kencomp.net. The rest of you Guys and Gals, please be on the
air to talk to us.
CQ100.
A number of members have asked if anyone is signed up for CQ100.
G0TAK has just signed up for the 3 month free trial package (again) and may
be found on a virtual 7MHz frequency on most evenings. "Give me a call via
email and I will try to meet you".

GB2RAF AIR DEFENCE RADAR MUSEUM RAF NEATISHEAD RAFARS PERMANENT S.E.S.
GB2RAF will be Operational on Sat 9th April and 2nd Sat of the month
thereafter. Quite a number of people have requested for CW time from GB2RAF
So, as from the 9th April, GB2RAF will be going to CW at 1300hrs local on
3.567Mhz (Not 3.515) until freq is calls clear.
Sorry GB2RAF will not be operational on the 2/3 April but an AOTA point
may be claimed for working GB2RAF at all other times.

INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION/SHUTTLES.
19 Apr Endeavour STS134 L/O 1948EST to the ISS with Express Logistics AMS.
28 Jun Atlantis STS135 to ISS with logistics and return of a defective pump.
Endeavour STS135 will not now be the last Shuttle to visit the ISS.
No one is sure at this stage when/which Shuttle will visit the ISS for the
last time.
All Shuttle Flights are subject to delays from minutes to months.
